Re: DonBrothers Series Discussion and Poll
I am glad that Tusbassa and Sononi got together I really find it forced, it just seems that Tsubasa turns to her because he couldn't get Natsumi. But it's basically because Natsumi ending up with Tsuyoshi feels awfully rushed and forced. I get what Inoue was aiming for storywise, and it was not uni...

That's exactly what I had in mind. All of it !HowlingSnail wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 11:49 pm Supposedly it's gonna be explained in Donbrothers vs Zenkaiger, although I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Re: DonBrothers Series Discussion and Poll
All in all I liked it though it had many flaws. But what strikes me the most in the end is how bad Inoue is at pacing. He throws in a lot of ideas, some of which are very good, he doesn't care too much of their consequences, that is a given and I can do with. But the last episodes never really had t...

Re: DonBrothers 50 discussion thread
Will we ever now what Kaito was doing here and why is characterization had nothing to do with the previous series? No ones gives a damn? Ok, fine!
Alright episode for an entertaining yet non-understandable series. I liked it for what it had to offer, at least.

Re: Sonoshi and some Japanese cultural references.
As Luna says, it's a fine line indeed. I think part of what is wrong with Sonoshi is that the character clearly didn't need that. The other Nôto have been well written and played by their respective actors to be creepy without being walking clichés or offensive. Sonoshi could have been ok by only be...

Re: Sonoshi and some Japanese cultural references.
Okay, thanks. It seems to me that the line is too blurry for having cliché okama characters as bad guys to be okay, then. What I never gave a thought about until now, though, is that many villains from the 80s had what could be considered feminine traits. I really didn't mind as a child, it sometime...

Re: Sonoshi and some Japanese cultural references.
I wonder, are Okama or Onee seen pejorative terms in Japan ? Or are those viewed as Okama/onee seen in a pejorative way ?
If not, could we liken this to the "trans as bad guy" trope ? If it's so, then the case is closed and I'm pretty in sync with Take and Lunagel's opinion.

Re: DonBrothers 44 discussion thread
I liked this episode a lot, for an older viewer like me who grew up with Bioman, the references were nice : The hitotsuki's "host" look is a nod to Monster, who was the funny/ridiculous villain in Bioman, he often got scolded, and his boss reminisces of Dr Man (the hairdo is quite obvious)...

Re: Mahō bishōjo senshi fontēnu is the next giga show
If it is a Poitrine parody, it would be funny because "poitrine" is the French word for "breast". The toei show has always been awkward for French speakers, but that name makes way more sense for a NSFW show.

Re: Shirakura's response to the fansub issue
I believe the fan stepped on some employee ego while stating the (very much true) fact that the fans do a better job than the professionals when it comes to subtitling stuff. I really don't think it's a matter of ego. That's assuming Toei cares about viewers outside of Japan, and regarding Super Se...

Re: Shirakura's response to the fansub issue
Let's not forget Toei is a Japanese company and I honestly think they don't give a f*ck about western fans of Sentai. They sold the license to Saban, Disney, Hasbro, or whoever is willing to pay, but they most likely don't care about what they do with the license and the availability of their series...

Re: Introduce yourselves
Another French fan here, but I must be older than Tholok because I was exposed to sentai before MMPR was even created, when Bioman was broadcasted on public access TV in the late 80s (I'm THIS old! ) I discovered TV Nihon with KR 555 and registered circa 2010, I think, when I tried to catch up...

Re: Essence of the Red Ranger DND edition.
I did a similar concept with friends a long time ago, but we were specifically influenced by Maskman (which is a martial arts themed show) so our characters were all Monks with special attributes, if I remember correctly. I don't think a Red character has to have any specific class (even though I do...
