Re: Learn to read a little Japanese

I taught myself katakanas by playing Super Robot Wars. It wasn't even my intent, all I did was use a katakana chart to translate things such as weapon names and the like. After a while, I just stopped using the chart. I also seem to be able to recognize a few kanjis, mainly from command menus.

Re: The Rise and Fall of Fansubs....

I do agree that subs are better when they are unobstrusive, and that they should convey the same experience that the original viewer would get. But even then, I think I have a higher tolerance for flashy subs. I recall back when Koutetsushin Jeeg was being broadcasted, a lone (or a small group) took...

Re: Game Center CX 02 released

Sometimes, when it's possible, I *cough* give the games from Arino's Challenge a shot. Then I realize how inept I am at Famicom and Super Famicom games, and how good Arino actually is. :)

It first showed up in the Gekiranger movie. I don't remember seeing it anywhere else. I'm really glad they included it.

Great. If I ever play Steel Battallion, I suspect I won't be satisfied unless I can play it like this.

Re: GameCenter [CX] 02 released

It's a damn good thing I'd finished my glass of chocolate milk before I started watching this, else I'd be cleaning my keyboard right now. (Or more likely getting a new one.)

Re: Anyone a Persona 3 Fan?

I tried Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, but I found it hard to get into. I enjoyed the storyline, and the characters felt more realistic than the usual fare (perhaps because it was set in the modern world). But the gameplay felt too much like a monster farming game. Perhaps I wasn't playing 'correctl...

Re: GekiRanger 49 released

This is the first super sentai series I've watched from beginning to end, thanks to TV-Nihon. I was a little bit surprised about halfway through the show, when I realized the Gekirangers would not be using their 'mecha' forms. Would this be considered unusual for a final episode of a super sentai sh...

Re: GekiRanger 48

I was glad upon seeing that 48 had been subbed, I needed some cheering up. And then this. :( Though admittedly it was very emotional, it wasn't exactly what I needed at the moment.

Re: GekiRanger 47 released

Not saying it's a bad story or poorly thought out, but I think Long's plan is seriously flawed. Even if he killed Mele, that would mean he'd have to deal with Rio's most likely near LUST to rip Long's blond head off his neck with his bare hands. You made a good point. I believe that's a flaw of hav...
