Re: 5 things i hate about Fighting Games
No 5.: CLONES/PLALLET SWAPS I don't mind limited use of the palette swap. I mean, honestly, Mortal Kombat popularized it with two of its most memorable characters. But I can see your point. Like, when there's six different Ryu/Akuma/Ken's in a Street Fighter game. Then I want to go strangle someone...

Re: Garo's picture quality
We're still pretty much using the same technology as we did for encoding. The reason that particular show has such bad quality is because the raws were in wmv and encoded at a low compression rate. That's why it doesn't stand up to other SD encodes That answers my question in so many ways. I had a ...

Re: Garo's picture quality
> I just don't know why you bring the other factors up when they can be the same as SD filming I know you didn't say anything about 720, but I figured if you wondered why I would call 30i a resolution when it refers to a frame rate I thought I would explain it. In the industry, when you say 30i, it...

Re: Garo's picture quality
>4:3 and 16:9 are aspect ratios. Things like 30i and 720p are indicators of resolution. What is 30i? A reference to frame rate? Yeah, typically DV shoots at 29.97 frames-per-second, but usually it's just referred to as being 30. The "i" refers to interlacing, where the bars of the image g...

Re: Garo's picture quality
Wasn't it though? nope, just SD, main give away is the res, 4:3, HD is 16:9, Senati was in 4:3 and then when it changed to HD its res changed to 16:9 Also this show was filmed before HD took off so it wouldnt be in HD, tis a shame for sure, but its just the luck of the draw 4:3 and 16:9 are aspect ...

Re: Garo's picture quality
It really clears up after episode 6. It gets down right muddy during the fights in 6 and then episode 7 rolls and long and the artifacting clears up and the story get rolling too! I figure they were probably shooting Garo on MiniDV in the first place, since the HDV wave was about to hit it's stride ...

Re: Garo's picture quality
Ah! In that case I apologize the gripe, as the kind of effort and quality put into the subs here is no small feat. I'll put my info in with Takenoko, in case you guys ever need a hand.

Re: Garo's picture quality
I kind of figured, since the artifacting isn't constant, that it was probably a problem on their post-production end. That kind of sucks. It baffles me when major productions like this have all this effort and professionalism put into the onscreen aspects, that they don't have someone in post output...

Garo's picture quality
I've noticed Garo tends to have lot of artifacting and pixelation in it's value ranges, particularly during heavy midtone scenes like indoors. Is this part of the .AVI compression or was it native to their broadcast and dvd releases. It sometimes makes some of their more terrific effects scenes hard...

Re: Terminator Salvation
I double checked T:S date which is 2018, so Kyle's age does add up. However, it still doesn't explain how Skynet is developing as fast if not faster than it did in the original timeline. Because Judgement Day happens in '97 originally, and Skynet is destroyed in 2029, which the T-800 was still new t...

Re: Terminator Salvation
I never said anything about the lack of phase-plasma rifles or other advanced weaponry. Also, T:S has wildly conflicting continuity points. First of all, Reese's age and the production line for the T-800 don't add up. Reese is very clearly not a teenager in the first Terminator and had been fighting...

Re: Terminator Salvation
T:S was Oooooooookay. I didn't like all the rewrites, I didn't like the editing, and I really thought Danny Elfman's score blew. Name a memorable score the man has composed in the last ten years. Really. It wasn't a BAD movie necessarily. It wasn't the inappropriate campfest that T3 was (I tried wat...
