The weapon is named the Hinawa DaiDai DJ Jyuu and is based off the tanegashima that was actually used by samurai.

Just a little side-note, you guys missed out on "Jimber Lemon Squash!" after "Orange Squash" at 21:06. It's barely audible due to the other sound effects, but it's there and they are supposed to go off consecutively as evidenced by the toys.

In my opinion, Ryouma invented it, but hadn't bothered to test it out yet. Since Gaim started using it, he's taking the opportunity to collect the data.

The thing about this upgrade is that there is a reason behind him getting it unlike many other upgrades where they get it without much effort. What Sagara has planned is yet unknown, but I do love that it didn't just fall from the sky.

Perhaps it's just a matter of differing romanization styles? Like Ji (Hepburn) versus Zi (Kunrei-shiki) and how one goes about tackling long vowels? As we've already established, the Japanese aren't really consistent with their romanizations. (^.^;)

Yup, you're right. The kanji used in the end sponsor credits is indeed 陣羽, confirming it as Jinba or Battle Surcoat. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Jinbaori
