Re: Go-Busters 28 released

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE NEW GO-BUSTERS - the facelift is just what it needed. Maybe the main part of the reboot isn't here yet, but with this, GB has earned my respect and has redeemed itself from all my harsh criticism in the past. Looks like season 37 (or 36.5 if you like) came early. The show is th...

Re: Toku songs on piano :O

He's done lots of great stuff, and started since he was 3 or 4. What's even more awesome is that he created the notes just by listening, just by ear. He's made some of them available here: http://www.geocities.jp/absolutepitcher for aspiring toku pianists and even encourages other fans to do their o...

Re: Go-Busters 25 released

Go-Busters is redeeming itself very well in my opinion for the initial mess up and I am happy for the Shinkenger homages so far. Apart from the Busters' personal burdens (apart from J), the Escape vs Ryuuji tension is very similar to the Takeru vs Juuzo tension from Shinkenger and the part about how...

Re: What Japanese words would you like defined?

I know I hear a lot of swear words like Onore or Kisama across Sentai. Across the years, it feels like Onore had actually evolved from something like damn you back in the days of Jetman... to something more like just damn it or crap, like Waruzu Giru does whenever the Gokaigers finish off his action...

Re: Go-Busters 22 released

So apart from the Power Rangers references, the "westernization" doesn't stop at that... With Escape's appearance and Enter's apparent disapproval, I get a Last Airbender vibe. The whole "Fire Lord Ozai favors Azula over Zuko and is disgusted by his failures" seemed to be echoed ...

Yup it's true. That's Miki from Geki and Kyoko Shiraishi, Mako's mother from Shinkenger

Re: Go-Busters 20 released

So this episode has given me whatever I felt was missing from this show. Yes, they've finally entertained me like Shinkenger and Dekaranger did. Speaking of Shinkenger, maybe it's because I'm going mad, but I appreciate the homages, even if they are accidental. All that talk about Hiromu's "Bur...

Re: Go-Busters 18 released

It seems to become clearer and clearer that Jin was the backbone of the show, because no one tells him of their weak points, nobody talked about Hiromu's reaction to chicken, and J seems to understand that Youko's hungry and not battle-drained. I begin to suspect that Jin built the whole thing, beca...

Catastrophe wrote:"Oh Shit."

I love you Jin Masato.
I love that because it pays homage to Magiranger, which I would've dropped if it hadn't been for Tsubasa's character. Transitioning from "I... can'to... speaku... Engurishu..." to "Oh shit" is really awesome.

Re: Super Sentai references in Gokaiger

In Episode 2, just before the kid is about to get kicked off the building after losing to the action commander, he clutches his stomach and this is shot the same way as Juuzou's shot in Act 26, a minute before Takeru gets cut so as to kill him, when they cross swords. In Episode 29, Ahim's disguises...

Re: Super Sentai references in Gokaiger

In Episode 1, the Gokai Galleon crew go to eat at Snack Safari, and this show was the cover for Sun Vulcan HQ. In Episode 2, when they discuss the identity of the person in black, there is a shot of 2 nuns in black, and a Kuroko from Shinkenger appears for an instant, sweeping the floor. In Episode ...

Re: Go-Busters is a pretty good, so why aren't people liking

I think it's because it does not warrant a spy theme, which is more commonly seen in Western shows like PR. Sentai is generally darker than PR most of the time, although stuff like RPM exists. Go-Busters uses a western theme, and in attempting to keep it real, has destroyed its unique sense of being...

My first impression of the series.

Ok. Spies. Good theme, nice homage to RPM, good graphics and animation of the sub dimension and the animated versions of the mecha. Now that's where I actually have a problem. In my opinion, Go-Busters had bad budget management. They did too much on the graphics side. So much so that the suits (alth...
