i have to say this is one of the funniest manga i've read so far so. right now Viz has released book 1-7 i bought 1-6 so far don't have enough money to buy the seventh so has anyone read this?

the anime is also really funny...it has laugh out loud/random humour but also some serious/touching story arc as well

yeah you know why the author called it gintama?

The author mentioned it somewhere in one of his interviews. "Yorozuya no Gin-chan" sounded plain to him, so he changed it to Gintama, which is nice since he can now make jokes about silver and golden balls. >D

close but it was actually because : if it was popular among the girls they would say something like "did you watch yesterday's golden balls?"

Then breaking the fourth wall KintokiGintoki would correct SiegSakamoto if they were called "Kintama" it wouldn't be a kids show but some other show lol."Ahahahaha"

I hope they do a Zura one like "Tasulot Ja Nai Katsura" lol since they did one with Okita. XD

The one with Okita making reference to Den-O? That was episode 65 the one where they hunt for beetles and
according to wiki it is "Boys learn the values of life through beetles. (Chapter 83~84)".

I remember reading Gintama and my brain just left, after laughing around 30 minutes and even the anime's just as funny as well, while being serious and sad at the same time. And that's what I really like about Gintama: balancing out the story and the characters, as well as the action, drama and comedy. Shame about the selection of Shonen Jump series that I find them absolutely boring.



And has anyone read the Itou aka Shinsengumi Rebellion Arc, both in anime and manga form? I cried when Itou died not as some traitor, but as a surprisingly good-developed character and an irreplaceable Shinsengumi friend that will be forever remembered by the fans. ; __ ; (And before you ask, yes. I really like Itou and it IS going to be hard that I should move on and carry on watching/reading...)

I think Rumbel Subs (fansubbing Gintama) needs some collaboration with TV-N's help.

Gintama is one of the best animes ever. Period. My sig speaks for itself. And if you look carefully, in episode 65, when Okita holds the beetle, isn't his pose reminiscent of Tendou's zector pose?
Edit: Btw, Tomozaku Sugita voices Gin, and Akira Ishida voices Katsura. Kinda funny isn't it? Kivat and Tatsulot? Gintoki and Katsura?

I think Okita's Den-O/kabuto joke was made only in the anime, since in the manga the character doesn't have a seiyuu.

In ep 112 they made a KR parody, mainly a V3 parody. Gin-chan was very pissed at the guys doing it and then they made a Kiva joke, with Kivat and all, to Gin-chan's despair.
