Vampires everywhere
So I started reading the Twililght Manga...
...just kidding. But I can't help but notice that we have not one but two new vampire related manga at our library.
Let's see. "Millennium Snow". About some girl and some guy, and the guy is a vampire. Okay, pass
"Vampire Knight". About some girl who's saved from a stray vampire by this handsome dark-haired vampire. Then she grows up to teenage level and there's this guy named Zero with blonde hair. And the all go to school together. Oh yeah, and there's secrets. It's not super original, but I'm up to volume 3. There's a bit of humor. It's not really as romancy as other shoujo manga get, and most of the characters are actually kind of interesting. Neat!

Re: Vampires everywhere
Not to mention all the TrueBlood stuff....
But, well, vampires have now been emo-fied...
Strangely enough, thinking about it made me realize Kiva foreshadowed a lot of the Western vampire things of today

Yeah Take Vamp Knight is pretty good. I've gotten pretty far into it but it went DBZ ish from where I left off.

Re: Vampires everywhere
Vampires have been emo and homoerotic since Anne Rice started being successful.
There is a lack of horror vampire stories. Today all vampire stoires seem to focus on either romance or action.
The laughing vampire is a good horror manga with vampires. But it is heavy stuff. I've yet to finish reading it. Definitely not for the weak of heart or stomach.

Re: Vampires everywhere
Surprisingly, Millennium Snow is actually pretty good. I haven't read it in a while, but it's got a snide sense of humor and it's not really a romance. It's light and cute, by the same author as Ouran Host Club, the reason I picked it up in the first place. I prefer it to Vampire Knight, which I couldn't get through the first volume. It was a little too bland and obvious for my tastes.takenoko wrote:Let's see. "Millennium Snow". About some girl and some guy, and the guy is a vampire. Okay, pass

Re: Vampires everywhere
...There's a Twilight manga? Ugh.
Even Anne Rice vampires could be pretty badass in comparison to these wierd fanfic hokey Twilight vampires. But then she became a born again Christian, so no more Anne Rice vampires.
There needs to be a revival of the badass Bela Lugosi or Graf Orlock vampires.

Actually, it's Twilight manwa. XD
It's vampire season now. Vampire Knight is good read, though I stopped reading after ch 40ish. I don't know what happened that I stopped reading. Come to think about it, the CW is airing some series called Vampire Dairies (I think) this fall, and it's romance yada yada yada.

Re: Vampires everywhere
How did this Vampire fad start?
Why is it that each of these "vampire love stories" is:
Can't they, at the very least, flip it around and have the woman as a vampire and the guy is a dude?
Why is it that each of these "vampire love stories" is:
- Girl meets guy
Guy is vampire
Girl likes guy
Guy likes girl
Humans/Vampires: "YOU'RE LOVE IS WRONNNNNG!!!"
Guy/Girl: But, we love each other!
Can't they, at the very least, flip it around and have the woman as a vampire and the guy is a dude?

Re: Vampires everywhere
Hellsing was awesome... blood, gore, action, and a whole lot of awesome fighting scenes. Light in many cases (there's some humor here and there), but kinda heavy with the religion, cult, and gory parts (not recommended those with strong uber faith ). Too bad they didn't do exactly well for the anime, but the manga was worth reading.
Couldn't agree less what everyone's saying... the fad did start (really went haywire) as I recall when Twilight totally went blasting romance everywhere... the books were ok, the movie just SUCKS real bad... not to mention we get to New Moon which apparently would scare any normal person as it's very full of emo, not my fav part of the series... I'm not even thinking about watching the next movie. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn still has more interesting stuff to look forward to.
Vampire Diaries is actually old... they just 'vamped' it up as the vampire romance trend is up and running.
But still... Vampires in toku I like:
Kiva (Wataru), Dark Kiva + Saga (Taiga), Queen (Maya), Rook (coz he's whacked with his games XD) from Kamen Rider Kiva
Nai and Mare from Magiranger.
Though the main reason why vampire romance is booming is coz the majority of ALL the authors are female. It's not odd for them to have males as the vampires. Not vice versa.

Uh... they already have. I don't remember the title but it was a novel. Apparently the novel wasn't really good as I thought it might be.Can't they, at the very least, flip it around and have the woman as a vampire and the guy is a dude?

Flip around and you somewhat got Chibby Vampire only lamerIijumiSoukai wrote: Can't they, at the very least, flip it around and have the woman as a vampire and the guy is a dude?
And since no one mentioned Rosario + Vampire so i`ll be the one to say it i guess: Both the anime seasons suck except for the OP`s/Ed`s and the manga is okay
