I don't know if that's true. All the sacrifices are what spur Yui and Shinji to convince Shirou to just reset the whole thing, thus making the world a better place. I just personally think of Ryuki as having two endings. The actual outcome of the battle, and the one to give it a happy ending

No, I was talking about Faiz when I meant the sacrifices were for nothing when the twist at the end was reveled.

The sacrifices in Ryuki were very important to the main plot.

Despite all that I think its still watchable, Kitoaka is probably my favourite Rider...he's just so damn cool lol
Really now?
How many times have two Riders said their going to fight and "finish" their fued? How many times have they actually gone through with it?

That doesn't mean it's pointless. I just don't feel like your argument has any weight. It's too generic and it smacks of reaching for an extreme point that obviously isn't true

Finally done with the tv series, then the movie last night. I have to say that I prefer the series over the movie not for the cliffhanger ending, but the overall execution. And it's a pity that the last remaining riders did not make it to the series, since I think they deserved more screenplays.

Kamen Rider Verde:
To be honest, I cannot get enough of this guy who is only exclusive for Special. His contract monster is a chameleon, has nice attacks(Yoyo attack like a tongue lash? Sign me in!), and not to mention one heck of a Final Vent(Kinniku Verde Piledriver!"). Like, he definitely showed Raia how to properly use a Copy Vent. If he was in the series, he could cause a lot of chaos by impersonating others.

Kamen Rider Femme:
Miho is an interesting character, and I think she deserved more than dying atop some bushes like some bum. Probably having her in the series as Shinji's love interest( Of course, we know how love goes to tragedy in KR series). That way, that should strengthen his resolve in stopping the fight.

Kamen Rider Ryuga:
Hmm, now I don't know about this one. A black dragon clone seems a little tack on for plot purpose. I don't really see his role in the movie aside from a way to kill Femme off.

That said, I find the endings executed quite right for the tv series.

Don't use spoiler tags when not appropriate

It's a series about mirrors, so Ryuga is the obvious mirror clone implementation. That's basically it

ryuga is there to give shinji his heroic moment... something rarely seen in the series... that shows that shinji can kick butts...

For me, I still consider Ryuki the best KR series ever. Considering how many new elements they put into it, mixed reactions are natural and besides I really liked how nonsensical Shinji's actions would be. One moment he would be saving Yui's life and the next he would be saving the family of Alternative.

Besides, the theme of death in Ryuki is treated very well considering how each Kamen Rider faces their own personal hell both in normal life and in their dying moments. One of my more favourite death was Imperer cause although we know he is a jerk, I kinda felt sorry the poor guy just had to kick the bucket that way. Of course another favourite has got to be Kitaoka, man his death was classic, like how a veteran fighter died not because of his skills but because of other factors. Then of course we have Shinji who fought so hard to understand what he was fighting for, only to die at the moment of truth. We even have the ridiculous death of Toujou who unwillingly became a hero. Then course there is Ouja who died like a berserk.

Well my point is that the series protrayed death and it's moments very realistically, perhaps far too realistically for some but for me, I absolutely loved it.

But that is in no way to say that Ryuki had no short-comings and as someone else pointed out that the KRs in the series often stated that they would finish things only to live to fight another day. If you asked me I would say it probably was to keep the tension at a certain level since we never would know who would "retire" so as to speak.

Overall I felt that the ideas in Ryuki were years ahead of their time.

It does mean they were pointless, whats the point of fighting if nothing happens at the end?

Atleast when they fought monsters the monsters died and their contract monster got stronger. When two Riders fought it usually ended in the Riders escaping or the time limit running out.

Because each of the battles meant something at the time when they fought it. Your argument is pretty much "I hate going down porn and money tree road, because at the end you find out the path is circular and doesn't go anywhere. It's just pointless to go walk down it." Again, I have trouble considering your ultra generic, one-liner criticisms to be true critiques of anything.

It'd be like me going "Faiz is stupid, because it's stupid. Nothing happens in the end". I'd be pretty much trolling at that point

>When two Riders fought it usually ended in the Riders escaping or the time limit running out

Again, this is retarded argument, considering all the Riders but Ren die in the end. Your argument is completely based on ignoring all the times when a Rider is killed off

He winds up doing research into the mirror world and figures out a way to form contracts with mirror monsters to create Kamen Riders. He also discovers the wish. This is the bit I particularly don't get.

If 13 (give or take a few) Kamen Riders fight to the death and one lives, he or she has their wish granted. Is there any particular reason for this? I'm just a bit puzzled as to where it came from.
I've wondered about that as well. Why even make 13 or so Riders, when just two fighting could've brought a quicker ending thus giving Yui a better chance of being saved in time? Or have them all focused on destroying Odin together? Or why did Riders need to be created at all?
The question was brought up in episode 48 (or thereabouts), and I was disappointed it wasn't answered. Ah well, good series nonetheless.

Okay, I'll steer things back to the show itself (seeing as there's still a nice thread for the ending)....

Kamen Rider Ryuki was entertaining. Shiny, but not blinding like the first episodes of Hibiki. And it taught me that there are thirteen...ish....kinds of people in the world:

Dragonmen who try to do the right thing,
Batmen who try to do the wrong thing because it's arguably the right thing,
Beemen who want Dick Dastardly to win the wacky races,
Gunmen who become lawyers somehow,
Raymen who search for peace and try not to think that it's been done,
Rhinocerousmen who for some reason have horns on their shoulders,
Womenmen who aren't actually canon,
Chameleonmen who aren't all that there, really,
Shadowy mirror dragonmen who aren't all that there, really,
Tigermen who steal their motivation from a Fist of the North Star antagonist,
Antelopemen who are actually Den-O in a thinly veiled disguise,
Trenchcoatmen who completely ignore the rules of their own deathgame,
Alternativemen who make an even thirteen if you don't count the ones in this list that don't count (except for not really, actually),
And of course Snakemantocerousmen...who just want to s*** all over everything.

And now, thanks to Ryuki, I know who'd win in a fight. Which is really the first question you should ask when presented with any group of archetypes people. Suren I can't complain.

I am curious in which antagonist you meant.

-------------------

That said, I believe the reason why it is a 13 fighters instead of just 2 is that Kanzaki wanted to accumulate the desires for wishes. Each of the riders has a rather strong desire to fight(Okay, maybe not for Imperer), so by gathering then together, perhaps that is enough to give a new life.

Speaking of new life, judging by his existence in mostly mirrors and about his mysterious death, I will hazard that the actual Kanzaki is dead and it is a mirror copy we are seeing. Perhaps he inherits the late Kanzaki's will to save his sister?

Instead of you attacking me why don't you give me a reason why the fights weren't pointless? If each battle meant something at the time they fought, what did they mean? Oh yea, they mean they wanted to kill the other Rider

Again, this is retarded argument, considering all the Riders but Ren die in the end. Your argument is completely based on ignoring all the times when a Rider is killed off
How many times did Raia have to fight until he was finally killed? Kido? all the others? The only Rider who died quickly was Scissors. I don't see the point in having fights if nothing happens when the fight is actually done, except for the rare time when something actually did happen, it just seems like two Riders killing time
