I guess I won't be the only North American to get one..

I was having this discussion at work today, and apparently even if the phone gets "unlocked" it runs on a different type of network than the phones in America do, so it still wouldn't work. Or atleast that's what this girl who used to work for AT&T Cingular said.

That would be the case in many Japanese phones, but this particular one uses 3G networking, which IS available in North America. It's a step towards the phone actually working if unlocked, but really nobody'll know until it's attempted.

The main issue in getting ahold of one is that, in Japan, you have to prove either Japanese citizenship or that you are going to be there semi-permanently (like a one year working visa) in order to buy a cellphone. When I visited there I was very tempted by some of the gimmickier ones that ran on 3G, but the process to actually buy one was so daunting I ended up not bothering (that and I only had a 90 day visitor's visa, aheh).

Also, would be veeeery surprised if this phone cost as much as an iPhone...outside of the cool factor, it doesn't strike me as the sort of phone that'd be hugely pricey.

Okay, 3G means...usable in North America if unlocked, I think.

Good lord do I want to carry one of THOSE around. XD Gonna keep my eyes on the web for more info from the "people who know more about phones than me" demographic, aheh.

Wrong 3G/3.5G frequencies and no GSM, so unfortunately it won't work here. If it was on NTT DoCoMo and not SoftBank, it'd have a chance of working on 3G/3.5G here in North America. I personally use an SH906i from DoCoMo and it works on 3G here....kinda. It's a hit and miss and a buddy and I are looking into why it works on full 3G for some and not for others.

You guys know what i've heard? There are now selling the SOC Ver. Of the PB 7.Although they'll be available in Singapore on March 09, i'm still buying it even after the show ends. Apparently i have a urge to rewatch animes or Super Sentai or Kamen Riders or Keitai Sousakan 7 for as many times as possible!

Hey guys! There's a new link i wanna post.Look at the No. 7 Pic, there's two tiny gaps right?
