You're not alone. I can never understand what are the Japanese supposed to read their language in a horizontal way or even vertical from right-to-left.

*Sigh*, I guess we will never know.

Actually they couldn't read the literary master's works because it uses kanji or Chinese characters, which are hard to pronounce and completely based on memorization of hard complicated characters. It's actually kind of easy to tell when something is left to right or up to down. If the words are lined up horizontally, then you read across left to right like in Western text.

If the long side is vertical, then you read it vertically up to down. This would be done right to left, one column at a time.

While I'm at it, when you read manga or comics (like the Kiva or Go-Onger ones) you read those typically top-down, right-left order

An okay episode, it was nice seeing Keita finally admit that 07 is his friend, even if he doesn't treat him all that fairly, also the scene at the end with the novelist sitting in with the girls and acting like one of them was a real turn around from how he was acting before just felt a little weird that all of a sudden he's into cell novels and is totally friends with the girls.

wait... if he doesn't get paided... then in the last episode, when his wages (which we now know is none) were cut in half, it means now he receives half of 0 doesn't it?
