Martin Scorsese's Silence (Persecuted Christians in Edo-era Japan)

I was able to watch this one yesterday. It's an alright movie that does tearjerk people, even those of the faith. The Engrish is decent. Sadly, there are no actors from any tokusatsu media that appear in this movie.

The Japanese are portrayed in two forms: the stateless villagers and farmers who yearn to convert to Catholicism and the clean-clothed Samurai-era Japanese people we are familiar with. Their perspectives are also explored.

The movie deconstructed the ideas of missionary work, martyrdom and apostasy, and the scenes that show and/or emphasize these deconstructions do not disappoint.

While you can, go watch it.

Spoiler
Not all of them. Many of them just suffer torture and promptly die simply for the sake of their converters.
