Terminator TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Post by takenoko »

Are you guys watching this series? It's great. I really like all the characters, the story is compelling, twists are executed in a believable fashion, and hey, robots!

It's hard to believe that the season is already over at 8 episodes though...

Spoilers for 7
Spoiler
I felt sorry for the ballet dancer, but I guess I shouldn't have expected anything else from a machine. It seems weird at the end though, when she's doing ballet herself.

Liked the homage to Arnold at the beginning though. It's also neat to see Sarah Connor and her different hairstyles. I really like the way the series really is about Sarah and her struggles to be both a mother and a hero and a regular human being. She's completely sympathetic and very courageous, but flawed in a way to make her believable and human.

I'm kind of glad the black guy finally met Sarah. I really like his character and can't help but wonder what part he'll play in the story. (It was pretty awesome the way the psychiatrist ends up in Sarah's old cell)

I've been really enjoying it too. As far as it being only 8 episodes (well technically 9 since 8 is a 2 hour affair), blame the writer's strike for that. Although since they are simply calling it a Season Finale rather than Series Finale gives a bit of hope that we will be seeing it again.

As far as Episode 7 (and in general):
Spoiler
Her mission was just to get information on what happened to the Turk. That was completed, return to base. The other thing about her though is that like you said, at the end Cameron goes and does something "human" yet you still have to wonder what her agenda is somewhat since she didn't destroy the CPU from the T-888. Plus it seems all the "good guys" are flawed in some manner (Reese even lied about what happened to Andy.)

So yes, this has been a really good series to spend Monday's watching. Here's to seeing it again in the Fall.

I'm loving every minute of it, one of the few better shows out there this season (my opinion may be different then yours, please don't hurt me). Summer plays Cameron very well, honestly Summer was the icing on the cake for me to watch the series, she is a great actress. If you haven't seen her stuff before, she guest starred in an episode of Angel (she was a creepy ballerina), and was a main character in Firefly (and its sequel movie Serenity).

Ah, she played a ballerina in that too? Hmmm. I was initially interested in the show because she was really pretty, but they do a pretty good job at distributing the attention between the main characters.

Well Summer Glau was a ballerina in real life but suffer an injury. The show is really good but Fox would probably canceled it since it doesn't get good ratings. American TV really needs to start making their series designed to end in a couple of seasons not just keep renewing every season.

Odd, I don't remember my birthday being next month.

Going back a bit, I can't tell if I find it really neat to know that she was a former ballerina, or if it feels like she's being typecast. I thought the story about the ballerina and her brother was pretty good in showing, hey, she's a robot, but doesn't I kind of don't like the way the appearance that they're writing stories specifically to do that. It seems kind of forced?

I can't help but compare her character to Arnold's from II. I suppose since it was a movie, he had to develop more tendencies toward humanity faster... I'm just wondering if she'll start acting more human as the story progresses.

/me hopes for a second season

I don't really think it was forced. There's nothing wrong with writing to the strengths of your actors/actresses. I think the same point would have gotten across if Summer was say an expert violinist instead.

If they do bring it back the only thing I hope they don't do is try to "hook up" John and Cameron. They can leave that shark alone.

I don't think Summer Glau being typecast as a ballerina is a problem. She's rather being typecast as an ass kicking machine. Watch Firefly and Serenity for some awesome ass kicking scenes involving her.

I kind of feel like being cast in the role as a ballerina in two shows is kind of typecasting. You have to admit that dancing ability isn't what most people would look for in a qualified killer robot XD

I have to admit that I kind of want to see that happen :p
