OKYO (Reuters) - Media helicopters hovered overhead and photographers camped out in front of Japan's top talent agency Thursday after one of television's cleanest-cut stars was arrested for public indecency.

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi of the pop group SMAP was found drunk and naked in a public park in Tokyo in the early hours of the morning, his agency said in a statement. He was alone and shrieking at the top of his voice, media reports said.

"What's wrong with being naked?" he demanded of a police officer who tried to question him after receiving a complaint about the noise, Kyodo news agency said.

More at original post. I foresee a massive apology/cover up, especially considering he belongs to Johnny's, who are notorious for keeping their stars as squeaky clean as possible.

Johnny's is just shorthand (coined by ravenous fangirls) for Johnny's & Associates, Inc., a talent agency that is responsible for manufacturing all of the popular boy bands in Japan over that last few decades. SMAP is just one of the company's more enduring groups. Unfortunately, it is a powerful talent agency that rules with an iron fist, much like Wal-Mart in the retail business.

Stuff like this happens more frequently than you think. The most common Johnny-killer I've heard about recently seems to be underage drinking. There were some incidents in the past of talents being kicked from Johnny's completely for drug use/possession. Another member of SMAP, Inagaki Goro (Kamen Rider G, as some of you may know him), was suspended from the group and appearing on TV 8 years ago for assaulting a police officer when he was charged with a parking ticket. His career began to be on the rise again around 2004 and now he appears regularly in popular prime time dramas, endorsements, variety shows and so on.

This is kind of a silly incident when you think about it, but Kusanagi will keep on apologizing until the public have had enough of shaming him (as is their way). I'm sure his career will be fine in the long run as this is was not a violent incident, though it might take a year or two for this to die down and I don't think he'll ever reach the same level of popularity and visibility he had prior.
