I don't think it was ever stated that Doukoku was the head honcho of EVERYONE in the Sanzu River. There's probably factions along the entire length of the river, he probably just dominated a particular section. How long is the Sanzu River anyway? And where does it end?
I loved this episode, and I agree that Super Shinkengreen was way better, finisher and everything, than Red and Blue. Chiaki and Kotoha's chemistry is fabulous. They're the best matched duo in the entire show, even better than Takeru and Genta. As for Mako and Ryunosuke, I think they're pairing feels more forced in the, what, one episode that they tried it. They don't play off of each other anywhere near as well as Chiaki and Kotoha.
The Ayakashi this week was really devious. I can imagine it being taken a step further though, like doing more switches along the lines of Genta and the sushi. Imagine if he switched a person with a leaf and the leaf was being slowly chomped on by a caterpillar, or if he swapped someone with a piece of lumber that would be cut up and used for construction. What if he swapped someone with a cell phone and the battery died? How would that work out?
