^ no, Takeru gave the final blow against Juuzo. It just had a long delay-effect. All Ryuunosuke did was dispel the fire.

I thought that the irony was that Takeru's "sword" that cuts Juuzou apart were his "words". If it were just an actual blade, Juuzou would just regenerate like he has all these years

I'm probably reading too much into this, but remember Act 12, when Takeru went on his short retirement, and then dived into the melee to save the bystanders? And then with the team reaffirming their bonds to him? He was wearing the same outfit both times. Not sure if it's intentional, but it's a nice book end, IMO.

I have mixed feelings about this episode. I did like the surprise intervention of Uramasa. Tayuu's struggle to make sense of her existence was also compelling, though it barely scratched the surface. I guess the dramatic scenes with the main Shinkengers has some impact but I'm not too interested in those scenes.

I'm so behind...

What I liked best about this episode were all the special moments that the characters had:
*Chiaki resorting to the "punch someone stubborn to teach them a lesson" tradition, and Takeru ducking the first time forcing Chiaki to punch him a second time, was priceless.
*Kotoha yelling at Chiaki for punching Takeru was a nice punctuation to that scene
*Ryuu calling Takeru "Shiba Takeru". The rest of his speech was awesome, but the power behind those two words really set the tone. (Although I kept getting distracted by his hair. I couldn't tell if it was shorter, colored differently, or just styled differently.)
*Takeru's expression after the mini-flashback, with the tears in his eyes, was like a punch straight to the heart. I had a very Mako-esque urge to hug him right then.
*Genta getting his moment with Kaoru, and Kaoru in turn accepting him. It was sweet, and I was also glad they wrapped that up before the final two episodes.
*Mako's smile. It spoke louder than her words.

Unfortunately, there were probably just as many things that I didn't like or just didn't understand.
*I didn't really get Juuzou's death. It looked impressive and gave him a few more minutes to try and sweet-talk Takeru to fall to Gedou so they could be sword buddies, but I didn't understand why there was such a delayed reaction to Takeru's strike. Maybe I was just distracted because, even though they never show you blood on his hand, the way Juuzou grips the blade of his sword and slides it up as he tries to pry it from his foot grosses me out.
*The way they chose to have Tanba get his comeuppance really annoyed me. This is a guy I want to dislike, but they made his idiocy so over the top that it became painfully comical - by which I mean that it was clearly supposed to be humorous but it wasn't really funny. It just made me not take him seriously.
*I wasn't thrilled that Mako accidentally brought doom down upon them all. I was looking forward to her having a decent final battle with Tayuu, like Takeru getting his showdown with Juuzou, and instead we got Tayuu in self-destruct mode.

I guess this is just my interpretation, but I thought Juuzou exploded because of a combination of Takeru's words and Uramasa's soul more than anything else. In a way, it would seem less satisfying to me if a man who lives by the sword is ultimately defeated by one

Well that is kind of why his dying words were 'Your words have cut me to the marrow", plus it's more than appropriate considering that the Shinkengers' main weapon through out the whole series has, in fact, been words to begin with.
