Shinkenger Mini-Series coming in January 2011
If this Image making the rounds on the Japanese message boards is to be belived:
It's name is Samurai Sentai Shinkenger - Country Record War Record, would last 13 episodes and would air along side the 2011 Sentai Series.
Tori Matsuzaka, Hiroki Aiba and Suzuka Morita are set to return as Red, Blue and Yellow, However there will be no ShinkenPink (Sorry Rin Takanashi fans), Green and Gold are getting new actors (Eiji Wentz and Nakagawa Shouko) and a new character named Shinken Jidai (Yusuke Kirishima) is joining the cast.

Errr, ShinkenGold's actress is listed as Nakagawa Shouko (that otaku/sentai darling) so I guess the new ShinkenGold will be female. Weird
Maybe Shinkengers is the Den-O of Sentai

Holy sh*t Eiji Wentz as Chiaki?! Are they really serious in recruiting popular actor/actress for this project, rather than recruiting rising stars, like usual? I could hardly believe those kind of cast listings...Deka_Hero wrote:Green and Gold are getting new actors (Eiji Wentz and Nakagawa Shouko)

In case people don't know who Nakagawa Shouko is, she's this singer I guess who's famous for being a big otaku. Apparently she's tried out to be a pink in the series a bunch of times. (She was a guest star on DekaRanger)
Here's her doing some poses:

Eiji Wentz? Seriously?
If it's only 13 episodes I can kinda believe it might happen, but this is just so unprecedented I'm gonna have to stay skeptical until I see some real proof.

Given how Popular Shinkenger is, it's not totally unbelievable.
But as always, take with a grain of salt until we get 100% official confirmation.
Mind, no one thought Cho Den-O was real when news of it first broke.

True, but there were also rumors of that going to be another KR show all in itself, and that never happened. At this point though I think everyone just groans and mutters something about Decade whenever they make a new Den-O movie.

What I don't get is if you're not having Rin Takahashi back, and you are adding a female Sentai member, why not let her be the new ShinkenPink? It's going to be weird to see the female version of the ShinkenGold costume

Who knows why Rin, Shogo and Keisuke aren't back....maybe it's a Plot point (Mako and Genta left Japan at the end of the series, Chiaki might be too busy with College), Or they didn't want to do it/Wanted too much money?
Or maybe it takes place back during the Edo Period or something.

Re: Shinkenger Mini-Series coming in January 2011
I don't know about Rin and Keisuke, but as of right now, Shogo is busy with his new band project, Cocoa Otoko.. They released their first single in Japan back in April or so, and their follow-ups were just released this week. The band is doing some serious promotion for the singles right now.Deka_Hero wrote:Who knows why Rin, Shogo and Keisuke aren't back....maybe it's a Plot point (Mako and Genta left Japan at the end of the series, Chiaki might be too busy with College), Or they didn't want to do it/Wanted too much money?

Shogo's also been cast in a starring role in a live-action movie version of the Bad Boys manga, which is slated to open in Japan in January of next year (also cast in the movie is Hidenori Tokuyama). So, if this Shinkenger mini-series is the real deal, I'd say that Shogo may already have too much on his plate to take on the project.
In any case, I'm not sure I like the idea of Shinkenger without the full original cast.
