Language learning ideas/tips

Post by Kami_no_Kamen »

So, its been awhile and I have internet again. I am looking for different ways to better use my flashcards, I barely try to memorize the cards themselves, it usually never sticks, besides a rare occasion or two and my tutor is suggesting listening and repeating dialogues n what not on my ipod.

Do any of you know where I could find some pre-recorded ones that cover not only beginner but beginning intermediate? Or, something better would be phrases and what not that you find super useful? I have the flashcards and I want to start writing sentences and then recording them to memorize, but I have no idea what kind of sentences I can make, if that makes sense. I am just blocked over something very easy and I just can never think of anything.

So, if you have any sentence ideas that would be cool, because I cant think for nothin lol. Thanks in advance.

How about here? http://languagelab.it.ohio-state.edu/index.php?id=1673

It's recorded conversations from the textbook "Japanese: The Spoken Language". No translations, but if you can pick it up, it might be helpful.

Thank you very much. I used to say that I was taking Japanese. I have since had to edit my statement to Japanese is taking me. It's kicking mu butt up and down the block and isn't even bothering with first aid. I've only had two sessions in a level 100 course at the local college. Most of the students have had 2-4 years in high school, and I'm feeling kind of panicked since memorization doesn't come easily to me.

A site my instructor gave me is http://www.mlcjapanese.co.jp/

Also try googling games for learning Japanese.

My respect for the translators for this site has deepened so much over the last week, and look forward to trying to contribute in the future.

I appreciate thanks, but Idk if that will help me out right now, with the Kanji yeah, but I just finished first year (100 level) and will be in 2nd year (200 level) and need new ways to use the language without speaking to someone, because I dont really have anyone to speak with right now.

Well. http://www.lang-8.com is a good resource. At least, it has been for me. You post journal entries in Japanese, and native speakers correct you. I tend to post the text of my journals in both Japanese and English, since a lot of the Japanese speakers who are correcting you know enough English to get an idea of what you were trying to say if you messed it up.

I think it's good because it teaches you to use Japanese productively, rather than just reading or listening to something.

I also like to read blogs for Japanese actors. That helps me a lot with my reading skills.

Hopefully that's at least a little helpful for you! ^^
