Re: W 04 Released
In Polynesian culture, mana is a power that is present in everything in the world to differing degrees. This includes living things and inanimate objects. Neither good nor evil, mana is powerful and dangerous if misused. Anything that contained a large amount of mana was considered holy or tapu, implying rules or restrictions. The English word taboo is derived from the forbidden implications of tapu.takenoko wrote:Ugh, at least spell "clay" right. Someone explained what Nazca was earlier in the episode. Yeah, associating "taboo" with "forbidden power" could work.

Very nice episode. Episode 3 wasn't as good in comparison, as episode 4 had all the pay-off of the ending.

Hmm, I figured they must be sharing at least partial memory when they have that belt on, otherwise it would be more then a little tricky to do, really, anything when they're W.
As for Saleman-Kun... Seems really dangerous to give someone with those break dancing movies, really... Any kind of power in my view. Though the power they gave him... Almost seems like a nullifying ability based on what he's done in these past two episodes.

I didn't notice it had been done with Decade. I probably would've said something then as well.takenoko wrote:>I did have a question though. I dunno, I guess it's up to Cheetah. We did the same thing for Decade and no one complained
I don't see why everyone likes LunaMetal that much. Instead of slapping people he's doing it with a rod, except the thing's so long and fast that there's no real difference visibly
As for LunaMetal, it's cause whips are cool.

I was actually just going to make it bigger and clearer to read but then I decided to change it to W to match the file name. If we named it Double I would have left it. I'm doing more for concistancy than to fix something. Same thing on Decade. Toei put DCD but we called it Decade so I put Decade.

Oh, hey. This week's Phillip Search terms are almost entirely Engrish.
Anyways, Akiko was slightly redeemed in my eyes, but she still shouldn't be allowed on investigations.
That BAT-Camera is flippin' amazing! I want one!

More in-depth reviewing
I expected a grasshopper to hop into the scene. Oh well...

Now after a few moments of thinking, a few things to talk about...
Just what is the crime for this Money guy?
- Taking out other souls? But he did that when they lost fair and square in a gamble and when they failed to pay. It's not like he had a pet cat, used chocolate, or had a whole coffee stand as his henchmen to do underhanded tricks.
- Baiting them with rigged victories till the last moment? Judging by Yuko still able to go there more than twice, I would assume that some managed to get some wealth out of the casino, so shouldn't that be a loss to Money guy as well?
- Taking Akiko a hostage? Well, for a casino that is supposed to be filled with "monsters", it is a wonder why she is free to go around and not tied to a chair as a wage for Money Guy.
- Driving one to abandon his/her home and family over money? But every casinos operates that way.
- Setting up an illegal casino? Well, maybe this is the only one I can think of. But it's not like everyone involved is reporting.
Also, what sort of corruption due to Gaia Memory? Other than collecting soul coins as trophies, it is far tamer compared to a girl that gnawed her own boyfriend to death. And there wasn't mentioned whether the victim's relatives ended up being coins as well to pay for the debt.
EDIT: Now that reminds me. The second horror for Garo is also money related.

Oh, that makes a little more sense now when put in that context. Thanks. Given the design to Nazca, its probably referencing the lines rather then what 大変身 said about moths. Although that still leaves the cat... Nekobaba? Wicca?Arigomi wrote: In Polynesian culture, mana is a power that is present in everything in the world to differing degrees. It was an okay episode for me. But it was nice seeing Luna Metal and Metal Branding from a non-vehicle stance. Definitely liked the CG to Luna Metal more then Luna Joker. Also if we're going to question why they had all the memories when Akiko only gave them the 2, the we should question where they keep the rest of them in general. I've always figured it was a similar manner to how Shou always gets the Cyclone Memory when they Henshin; some kind of digital teleportation thingy effect. And you know, its cheaper to do takes with the memory in hand rather then waste time showing how they pull out the memories from where ever.

Once again, it's time to throw my Windscale hat into the ring.
(And I know how much you folks hate Akiko rants, so I'll try to keep it minimal.)
*I enjoyed the little argument between Shoutaro and Phillip in the beginning. It shows their partnership isn't 100% perfect, which is good, because human floaws make for better character development.
*I will give Akiko credit where credit is due here. She DID do the smart thing by using the Bat-Camera to send images back to Shotaro, which is the professional thing to do. (BTW, is it me, or does the Bat-Camera remind anyone else of Kivat?)
*Sadly, the one gold star I gave her for that was immediately ripped off for going after Money with Teh Slipper of Doom. Attacking a deadly mutant with feeble footwear is not a good idea.
*For a Gaia Memory named Terror, Boss Sonozaki's Dopant form really isn't that scary. He just looks like some alien emperor. But then again, we haven't seen it in action yet.
*I like how Wakana's Dopant form matches her hair.
*Akiko get another minus for exerting her so-called "authority" in front of Money. The little buttplug acts all big and bad, but as soon as she gets in trouble, she starts threatening to call her peeps.
*Speaking of Money, for some reason, I didn't notice until this episode that he had a unibrow.
*You gotta give Kirihiko credit. It takes balls to face a Dopant in human form. Then when she got pissed, she went after him with the fist of death, he transformed, and the attack did nothing.
(P.S. Nazca looks fricking awesome, and Clay Doll is meh)
*Santa-chan........ooooh-kaaaaaaaay..........
*Akiko earned another gold star by doing something useful with Teh Slipper of Doom. (I.E. snapping Phillip out of his fugue) Also, I did like that bit where she grabbed the Gaia Memories, handed them to Shou and Phil, and was all like "Sic 'em, boys!"
*Pretty sweet how the Double Driver allows the two to read each other's thoughts. That could come in handy later on.
(BTW, with all the overdone expressions Akiko had in this episode, she came off like she was impersonating a cartoon character)
But as cool as Luna/Metal is, my favorite so far is still Heat/Metal. Steel staff with built-in flamethower is always awesome. (BTW, did you notice he was using both the Metal Shaft AND his flaming Falcon Pawnch during the fight? That's pretty damn cool.)
*Shou and Phil have now attained urban legend status. Sweet.
*I'll be nice, and give Akiko half a gold star for not ruining the ending.
All in all, fun ep.

^^^What a long post
BTW, better edit the last part of your post, I think it's a spoiler
I just noticed something weird in this episode...
There's coincidentally a lot of people on top of the tunnel where W came out when chasing the Money Dopant (as if someone was shooting a film there )
And after W rammed his bike on the Money Dopant, he was thrown of into the tunnel and then appeared at another random place, which seems veeery far away from the tunnel
Also, is the Money Dopant guy really evil?
Did he became "evil" after he got his GaiaMemory?
Why would he collect Life Coins anyway?
