Re: W, The New Den-O?
W can't be the new Den-O, Den-O is still being Den-O. The next 2 double movies are straight to DVD, probably just to cater to the fans, where Den-O has some mystical long reaching appeal that allows a Trilogy of movies to be released on the big screen.
In short, no, if Toei doesn't think later releases will work in movie theatres, then I don't believe it possess the potential.

Re: W, The New Den-O?
I was expecting Decade to make a cameo for every rider series but considering how much people hate Decade's story, he only appear on the big screen with Den-O. I don't think W will be like Den-O though, not many things to do about a simple story like that.

Re: W, The New Den-O?
decade was supposed to appear only once every 10 years... i don't really expect him to see for some time... though diend is probably an exeption...
momo is just too big for another rider to take over...
W needs a good story to produce a straight to DVD movie...
momo just needs to go ore sanjo to make toei some more money

Nope, the toei said on that decade is only for the 10th aniversary and they said "see you again in the 100th aniversary". not sure which he's referring to.....but decade already showed up in W's movie and he will show up in the next movie *cough* 35th aniversary's movie *cough*kokowaks wrote:decade was supposed to appear only once every 10 years... i don't really expect him to see for some time... though diend is probably an exeption...

They said hang around for Kamen Rider Century, which was obviously a joke.Xander Blaze wrote:Nope, the toei said on that decade is only for the 10th aniversary and they said "see you again in the 100th aniversary". not sure which he's referring to.....but decade already showed up in W's movie and he will show up in the next movie *cough* 35th aniversary's movie *cough*

Re: W, The New Den-O?
It's possible W may survive. The series is still VERY popular in Japan. Bandai is still making collectible merchandise. W toys are still on display in Akihabara for insane prices (one store near the station wants 30000yen for a mint in box trigger magnum). And, the new Climax Heroes video game features W almost as much as it does OOOs.
In further anecdotal evidence, W is still popular among the core audience: kids. In the last month I've seen elementary schoolers take the USB sticks they use in computer class and try to drive them into their arms. Not to mention the kids who made their own clay dopant memories in their spare time in art class (they fought over who got to be Taboo). Even some of my middle school students collect rider key rings and keitai decs. Their jaws dropped when they realized that I knew the names of all of them. Thanks TVN, you make me a cool teacher!
As for story, all one need do is check out the "Movie taisen core" film to find out that there are still compelling stories to be told with these characters. I don't think this a spoiler but. Besides, God only knows how many black market gaia memories are out there, so finding new kaijin to fight shouldn't be too difficult.
The climax may never end, but villains will always be forced to count up their sins.

Little off topic, but Carter, are you a JET or an independent teacher?
And yeah, W stuff is still really popular. Funny how I thought a two-in-one rider wouldn't work out and was proven totally wrong.

I think Bakugan is all the rage now, that and a small resurgence from the Beyblade series...

Equally off topic: I'm an independent teacher. I work for an ALT group called Interac. I work Elementary and Middle School, but I'm planning to move to elementary school only for next school year.Lunagel wrote:Little off topic, but Carter, are you a JET or an independent teacher?

those stupid silly colorful bands you wear around the wrist are the rage (I think it might be Korean influence, partly Japanese) If kids go crazy over just colorful rubber bands,I wonder what's next huh?takenoko wrote:LOL, you probably were a cool teacher to begin withCarterSensei wrote: Thanks TVN, you make me a cool teacher!

Manga/Anime are more popular than the American counterparts of Sentai and since this is Hawaii, Kamen Rider V3 is pretty popular with kids who have local dads who've lived when it aired in Hawaii. Gundam's always popular here.
