Grongi language in Kuuga
Huh, that's odd. You guys didn't put the mystical/alien gibberish subs for the hearing impaired like you usually do. Other than that, nice to see Kuuga coming back. Can't wait to see this series unfold at last.

They did, for most of it. Remember except for a few instances, ULs only speak in their tongue, the other times was because it didn't really matter.KickHopper wrote:Huh, that's odd. Also why is it I was expecting this and yet.....lost all hope? ;_;. ah well.
Is it just me or is the voice for UL 0 a bit different then in the TV version?

The English translations were for the places in the Japanese DVD which were subtitled. There was no subs in the beginning so there's no way to know what was said, although some mystical gibberish would have been a good idea. The last line seemed fine untranslated, since anyone who has seen Decade's first three episodes should know what it means

There are a few Japanese sites that translate the language. It's essential Japanese run through a cipher.

a few questions about kuuga: This will be answered in later episodes also what language does the grongi speak, in decade it was subtitled in japanese, as to indicate grongi's own language, is the language made up or is it an ancient form of japanese? finally kuuga has its symbol, like every other heisei series, but on the belt it's a different series than the one that appears in the title sequence so what's the correct symbol for kuuga then?

Grongi is its own language. It is possible to translate all the Grongi into Japanese as after the series was finished the staff release information that showed the Grongi language was Japanese with sounds/characters changed, though there are a few grammatical differences too. Grongi also doesn't have any double digit numbers, in Grongi you need to say "9x2" for "18" etc.AeonRanger wrote:a few questions about kuuga: This will be answered in later episodes also what language does the grongi speak, in decade it was subtitled in japanese, as to indicate grongi's own language, is the language made up or is it an ancient form of japanese? finally kuuga has its symbol, like every other heisei series, but on the belt it's a different series than the one that appears in the title sequence so what's the correct symbol for kuuga then?
Japanese wikipedia has a very complete explanation taken from the Kuuga guide book that explained the Grongi language, http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/グロンギ語. Obviously that isn't much use though if you can't read Japanese, I took a quick look with Google Translator, it gets some parts right but sadly the bulk of the description doesn't translate correctly.
Sorry, you'll need to copy paste link, URL code doesn't work with Japanese characters in the link...

I actually originally though Takenoko was just making up the Grongi lines and I was going to put it all in a symbol text. It wasn't until I was about to send in the final version of the script that I found out it was actually what they were saying.

Re: Kamen Rider cool guy 01-02 DC Released
I read some of the post that not every Grongi's language was subbed, wouldn't it be hard to have better understanding of the plot?

Re: Grongi language in cool guy
Ah crap. Just checked the DVDs for the rest of the TV series. Apparently the subs were only for the special. The Kuuga TV DVDs don't come with a subtitle track

Re: Grongi language in cool guy
The staff didn't want people to know what the Grongi was while Kuuga was airing because it has early spoilers. They didn't release any Grongi translations until after the series end. Through they still didn't put them on the DVDs, they released a DVD boxset that included a guide book explaining the Grongi language.takenoko wrote:Ah crap. ^ somebody needs to procure this guidebook.
and decree that every TVN forumer must learn the language.
Though I am guessing you need to learn Japanese first.

Re: Grongi language in cool guy
Pretty much. It is mostly Japanese with sounds replaced rather than a completely different language. Though that said, for what it is there is a lot of detail in it, such as some grammar differences as I said.gh0stwrit3r wrote:Though I am guessing you need to learn Japanese first.
