You guys came up so so many weird theories for Ankh's hair lol.
I agree with Shrapnel about the actor having real blond hair and wearing a wig (short black/brown) for all the detective scenes. There's nothing more efficient than that since it only takes 2 minutes to wear a wig and to make sure it looks correct.
The actor posts a lot of pictures on his blog and in every pictures, he looks fairly normal.

Someone just pointed this out to me. It appears there was a shifting time error that gave it blank frames causing it to flash. It's only the HD version of episode 4.
