Cell medals are opaque as well, with the symbol on them. If there is going to be Grey Core medals, they'll be slightly translucent and as Dengar said, have the gold outline around it.
Also, I think the cell medals have generic pattern on the back shaped like an X.

@Aeonranger I'm sorry but I think you counted wrong there are 5 greeeds with 9 core medals each. That makes 45 Core Medals in total. And I think in that episode Kazari took OOOs Kamakiri medal so yeah...
