Dang it looks like they are all crying, and pirate swords = awesome

It's definitely pretty cool looking. I wonder if the series really will differentiate the sword/gun, sword only, gun only differences depicted in the picture

What's with Toei's recent fascination with "Go"? Go-onger, Goseiger, and now Goukaiger.

It's because "go" is their word for "five". Five members, like in a Sentai. Of course gou/go can also mean a lot of other things like gougou is the sound of engines from machinery/vehicles or gou means strong. Go-Onger is just the English word "go". Go in Goseiger is the kanji for "protect"

For goukai it means:
豪快 【ごうかい】 (adj-na,n) hearty, exciting, stirring, lively, heroic, largehearted, splendid, (P)
From the kanji gou/great/powerful and kai/pleasant feeling

And of course kaizoku means pirates
海賊 【かいぞく】 (n) pirate, sea robber, (P)
From the kanji for kai/sea and zoku/thief

Edit, while I'm at it. You don't want to forget the u this time since gokai is:
誤解 【ごかい】 (n,vs) misunderstanding, (P)

I usually take some time to get used to new sentai suits, but Goukaiger is looking awesome from the get-go.
This anniversary series is shaping up to be promising.

Jack Sparrow would be proud.

The costumes are a nice change from the standard spandex suit. The coats/vests look cool. The belts aren't just weapon holsters in this incarnation. I like how the belts secure the coats so that they don't flap around during fights.

The pirate theme makes me wonder about the team members. They might not be the goody-two-shoes you expect from sentai.

The core members of Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger is said to came from a different dimension, who wonders the sea of time and space riding their mothership, called GouKaiGalleon, which transforms into this season's main robo, GouKaiOh. It is also rumored to be based on Noah's Ark and might hold all the auxiliary mechas.

Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger's henshin device will be called Mobairets (Mobile + Pirates) and the legendary ranger figures that they'll use to transform to previous Sentai Senshis will be called RangerKeys. Primary weapons includes the GoukaiKen (sword) and GoukaiGun.

Yeah, we allow this kind of stuff every year until the show starts. As long as people aren't posting ridiculous stuff like who the sixth ranger is or something it should be fair game I think

I did make a Pirate Sentai Buccenger joke back when Seaick Gosei Great first appeared. It's good, they've had two ninja series, it's about time they had a Pirate one.

Please tell me those aren't header ports I see on the sword hilt and underneath the flintlocks.

Pirate sentai could be really, really awesome, but seriously, no more headers. Pleeeeease
