Hi.

I'd like to speak my mind about this. As far as spelling goes, I think Gokaiger would be much better. I would rather go with the official Romanji spelling of the series name.

We should all know by now that the dash in the name (ー) in ゴカイジャー makes the pronunciation of the Katakana a bit longer. It would not make sense to add a U. I think it makes some of us confused about the spelling itself.

Except Japan often uses "o-" when writing words in katakana that would otherwise use "ou" in hiragana. See every sentai mech using "o-" in katakana for the Japanese word 'ou'.

Spelt correctly, both in terms of the kana and the word being used in the portmanteau, it would be Goukaiger. However, Japan has shown they have a complete disregard for the rules of language when writing things in the roman alphabet, and when it's not too ridiculously stupid I don't see a problem in following it.

More often than not, its better to use the official spelling even if it's technically not correct. When you are trying to find information, search engines give better results with official spellings.

Right, exactly. Gokaiger is a perfectly tolerable romanization and it's official - there's no reason not to use it. Point is, it's a portmanteau of the words 'goukai' and 'ranger'. Think of it this way - Hepburn romanization renders 'ou' as a ō. This is dumb, but it's the exact same type of dumb that makes 王 become オー and 豪快 become ゴーカイ.

It is official and perfectly acceptable, but at the same time I would have plenty of respect for someone if they chose to stick the finger up at awful cross-alphabet romanization methods and spell it according to the base words.

My point was lost, I was trying to say to each their own. If anything else there's a Google battle. But debating over a simple U, XD it's kind of amusing and childish. I say the moderators are "god" and what they choose should go. If in the end they are wrong, OH well, no ones bad.
