Oh man, that was such a good movie. The best Taisen movie yet, I think. It just flows between the individual parts so much better.

I mean, there were parts that I didn't like though. Like the action was awesome, but sometimes that action can be really dumb and unrealistic. Like since when could Eiji do spin kicks? Or why is Gentarou throwing girls in the air and doing an escort quest with them? And the fight on top of the water with the two Births and Aqua was really boring. And the CGI fight on the rocket was pretty bad looking at times.

That said, everything else was really good. The OOO part was the perfect epilogue for the show. It sort of was what I was hoping for in the TV series ending.

The Fourze scene is good too, the Rider Club is always great together. Virgo needs to fight more, she has such nice wings.

Nice guest appearances from MagiMother and the guy from Keitai Sousakan 7.

I actually liked the idea of Nadeshiko. Kinda felt bad for Gentarou when he found out that she wasn't human. I enjoyed the OOO portion of the film a lot better than the Fourze part because the OOO portion went in perfectly with the story's ending.

Oh, and it was kinda weird to see Kamen Rider Nigou's helmet to be black when it was white in the OOO and Den-O 40th anniversary movie. Guess people had too hard of a time to tell them apart.

All I have to say is... That last battle on the Rocket, when they went full on with CGI, I was wondering if I was watching Game Footage from a Kamen Rider game.

I guess the third time was really the charm for the Movie Wars series to finally get a good movie not just parts of it (way to go W for being awesome). For once, I felt the timeline actually flow naturally. I like the way Ankh came back and was reasonable that one day Eiji will be able to restore Ankh's Medal. I wonder if Date is regretting shaving the goatee because Proto Birth is no more. No more Birth Bros. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Satonka still kicking ass and no silly outfits this time. It was kinda of funny to see Kougami as an old man still going Happy Birthday to people. I did laugh with Ankh when Aqua admitted that he was afraid of water even though he's a Water Rider.

For the Fourze part, when Gentarou was tossing Nadeshiko around, it sort of remind me of the scene in the Accel movie when Terui was fighting off mooks while handcuff to a girl but not as good. Poor Shun, he loves Miu so much but she just ignores him. I'm with take that I want more Virgo fight scenes because of the wings, so beautiful. I felt sad that Gentarou was unable to get Nadeshiko but at least she acknowledges his love for her.

Shoutarou and Gentarou going "Uissu!" back and forth was an awesome scene.

At least we didn't get another Core type villain and actually got a main villain that made sense for the Riders to get together and fight at the end. Looks like the Sonazaki Family had a family reunion along with the four main Greeeds was a nice touch. I agreed with the final fight use of CGI. It really was jarring since you could tell it was so fake at times.

One more thing, I was the ones who said that I had a hard time telling Ichigou and Nigou apart. I remember back in Let's Go asking the staff which one is which because they were identical except for their scarves and gloves were in different colors.

> I did laugh with Ankh when Aqua admitted that he was afraid of water even though he's a Water Rider.

I liked that too, because you're probably laughing too. The guy's super pathetic.

>For the Fourze part, when Gentarou was tossing Nadeshiko around, it sort of remind me of the scene in the Accel movie when Terui was fighting off mooks while handcuff to a girl but not as good.

Yeah, but that was pretty good, and Terui is a cop, so it makes sense that he's really good at fighting. Gentarou is good at fighting, but he's more of a brawler. It would have been fine if he used his body to shield Nadeshiko or something. Juggling her and stuff was just ridiculous.

>At least we didn't get another Core type villain and actually got a main villain that made sense for the Riders to get together and fight at the end.

Yeah, again, the flow was really good in this movie. They set up the enemy from the beginning and you actually care about him getting beaten by the heroes, because he does evil stuff all along the way.

> I agreed with the final fight use of CGI. It really was jarring since you could tell it was so fake at times.

Yeah, the reliance on CGI is just really shit sometimes. It reminded me of that terrible Garo battle near the end of Makai Senki.

i'm going to just copy-paste my thoughts on nadeshiko from a discussion I had on IRC because I don't think I can encapsulate them any better than I did:

<Magenta> nadeshiko actually scares me, as a thing
<Magenta> like, okay
<Magenta> I'm going to commit the worst sin I can as an adult foreign viewer of tokusatsu
<Magenta> and talk as if I'm actually the target audience
<Magenta> Nadeshiko, as a character, offends me for three reasons.
<Magenta> One, she's totally devoid of personality. That's the point, I know, but there are other ways you could have played it. They could have had her mimic the actual Nadeshiko's personality, or something, and just had Kengo go "She only acts the way she does because she's mimiced a real person" as opposed to being a pure mimic who exists purely based on whatever Gentarou does to 'program' her, essentially.
<Magenta> Two, she exists purely to be A Girl Rider. That's it. The entire point of her character is to be a girl, because Gentarou needs a girl to fawn over and all of the way she behaves as a rider serves to highlight the fact she is A Girl in the most demeaning and "it's funny because SHE'S A GIRL!" way possible, that disallows her any semblence of existence beyond that archetype
<Magenta> Thirdly, and the one that sinks the nail in the coffin, is the fact that she is devoid of personality because she is a girl
<Magenta> "Nadeshiko", as a word, means "the ideal woman".
<Magenta> it's an incredibly out-dated concept of the ideal woman being the quiet subserviant one who takes care of the house and has the husband's dinner on the table and tries to make his hard-working existence all the better and would never allow any of her issues to come in the way of caring for the male who is far more important
<Magenta> I dislike the idea that, in the year fucking 2012, we have this vapid charicature of a girl literally being shoved into the face of the children watching as the film goes "This! This is what girls should be like!"
<Magenta> You'd think, a whole decade after Femme, we'd have gotten past the point where female riders had to be constantly pointed out as being ":OOOO A GIRL!"

tl;dr fuck those demeaning sound effects

Apart from the Fourze section, however, I really enjoyed this movie. It was great seeing W again, the action was consistently superb, it was a nice wrapup for OOO - open-ended but optimistic. And I think out of all the tributes to Kamen Rider for it's anniversary thusfar, this one went the furthest to make the original Riders look badass as fuck.

Dirty feminist!

But yeah, those are genuine issues, right?I can't really argue with that... so I won't!It is funny how Nadeshiko has a school girl uniform design, except it's nothing like the one that Nadeshiko wears nor the one from Ama High. Nobel Gundam?!

In general I think I just like the Kamen Rider Club because it's a nice ensemble. Even if you don't like the individual parts, they're usually great as a whole. They can't really do a story that unlikable unless they all are heinous in it. Plus, we get to see them helping out in the fight, showing that it's not just Gentarou who does everything in the club.

And thinking about it a bit more, in the end Nadeshiko does gain a sentience. She starts off as Gentarou's McGuffin, but at the end, she doesn't just magically become "Gentarou's girlfriend". Once she gains consciousness, they do the friend thing and then she goes off and lives her own life. She's not a deep character by any stretch of the imagination, since she only exists to be a foil for Gentarou, but she doesn't need to be either. It's easy to be cynical and say that she's just a gimmick Rider who's only feature is that she's a girl (Since it's true) but I don't that's necessarily bad.

Edit: There's actually a couple reasons for why I also think that the "Gentarou has an empty girlfriend' thing is okay. First, Gentarou himself goes about it in a very innocent manner. I don't think there's anything wrong with guys going "There's a cute girl, I want to go and try to impress her." Part of the problem is the setup is sort of a foregone conclusion that "Here Gentarou, this is your love interest" and "movies are short, so let's make this happen at a ridiculous pace".

The thing is, it's not blatantly insulting to the viewer the way Kamen Rider Girls is. One is "Here's a scantily clad girl for you to drool over with some tangental Rider theme, you're too stupid to see through this." The other is "This cute girl becomes a Kamen Rider, who's cute." But it doesn't feel insulting to me, since she does wear the mask and does do some fighting. She may not be super deep, but she does have a presence in the world, so I give them the benefit of the doubt for it?

Shinkenger must've been awful for you. I mean hey, Mako got over 100 hours of screen-time; much worse than Misaki's short amount. =P

EDIT: I should point out that I'm not trying to call Mako boring or anything since she did come to be a neat character; My point was just that the complaint about the word "Nadeshiko" is applicable to more than just this girl.

Probably the best movie to come out of Rider since W Forever. I'm a little sad this is more than likely the last time we'll ever see Shou and Phillip together, as they are my favorite Rider team. I honestly hope that Kamen Rider Aqua will get expanded upon. He was a pretty cool character that unfortunately did very little.

Best part of the entire movie; when Gentarou said he was the guy who would befriend all Riders, and Amazon was in the background and whispered "Friend." I died laughing and had to rewind it a few times. Toei knows me so well.

Actually, in the original series his helmet is black/really dark green.

Same with Kamen Rider Spirits

I thought the reason she was named "Nadeshiko" is to honor the Japan women's national football team, Nadeshiko Japan, with her Rider Kick based on the kick used by a player to score the winning goal in a recent football league. I didn't think the name was given because she was a 'yamato nadeshiko'.

Yeah I know, but it was white just a year ago in the OOO Den-O 40th Anniversary movie, so I thought it was weird that they changed it just a year after.

Hm... For me, I would say that my favorite action scene of the movie would be OOO's quick combo change and scanning charge in succession. I really love when Riders (or any hero for that matter) shows off all their abilities in one fluid fight, ala the W movie final fight. Great stuff, though I'm sad that Tajador didn't get to do a scanning charge in that fight sequence.

Also, interesting how swapping the colored parts with the black really brings out the Tatoba suit.

Well, I don't have much to comment.

OOO Part of the Movie:
>>> The OOO part of the movie ruined the not-so-happy-but-epic ending of OOO TV series.
I dislike it when they desperately added Ankh character with such a lame excuse (from the future??!) without properly explaining it. What is the explanation for future Ankh being able to pose in Eiji's and Shingo's (Hina's brother) human forms respectively WITHOUT needing to possess any of both guys?? Based on OOO TV series, only the other Greeeds (Uva, Kazari, Gamel, Mezool) that were capable to impersonate/copy any human form they desire without needing to possess the body of the actual humans. But, in case of Ankh, he needs to possess a real human body (even at the time when he possesses most of his red core medals).

>>> The premise of the OOO part of the movie is the future world current fight against new monsters. Kougami Foundation created new rider system in the form of Aqua and Poseidon to fight against those new monsters. Who/What are those monsters?? No explanation. Suddenly the black hole appear out of nowhere and the supposedly already destroyed/shattered core medals (based on OOO TV series) surprisingly without any scratch and together with the soul of Maki possessing the future new rider (Minato). And then what's up with the Future Eiji?? Is he still fighting in the future too, together with Minato?? Why didn't he come along with Future Ankh to the present time helping out the Present Eiji? Is it because Future Eiji is too old to fight?? If this is the case, then what about the great Showa riders who are still able to fight in their sixties or seventies.

>>> I can understand Kougami being able to create Aqua rider system (just think of it as new Birth). But it's inconceivable that he too can create the Poseidon rider system (and the Poseidon cores) Plus Super Tatoba cores. I'm simply saying that after the creation of OOO rider system and the core medals 800 years ago by the King's scientists, all Kougami was able to create was Cell medals-based technology (Birth rider system, Candroid, etc.) So, how did he able to create Poseidon rider system plus its cores and Super Tatoba Core medals in just 40 years without the existence of any previous original core medals (Red, Green, Yellow, Grey, Blue, Purple) for the purpose of the Research & Development for both Poseidon and Super Tatoba cores projects?? The previous original cores have been destroyed/shattered and lost to the black hole in OOO TV series, remember?

W Part of the Movie:
>>> Nice and just okay.

Fourze Part of the Movie:
>>> The story happens before Meteor first appearance in Fourze TV series. No mention at all about Nadeshiko in Fourze TV series after Meteor first appearance (in Fourze TV series). And then, no mention at all about the Nadeshiko Rocket Switch/Module in Fourze TV series. Nadeshiko looks physically less attractive than the other Rider Club female members. A bit disappointing for the so-called Gentaro's girlfriend. It's my personal opinion though. But I still like the fighting scene overall.

MEGAMAX:
Such disrespectful act subjecting the legendary showa riders to Switches and Core medals. How that happened anyway? But I like how some of the showa rider got new special effects when executing their respective finishing moves.

Overall, as with the other mix riders movie before MEGAMAX, I'm watching this movie coz I'm attracted with the action and fighting scenes of the riders and as a kamen rider fan myself, and am not expecting much storyline-wise and as usual am watching it in NON-CANON mode.

OOO's part

Nice to see the older riders. And it really seems like Foundation X is the new Shocker.

Ah, Satonaka, why couldn't you be the heroine... Poseidon looks badass.

Beardless Date-san! He looks so serious. Unfortunately, Birth is still a punching bag.

Nice bunshin, Ankh. And that OOO fight was pretty awesome. And since when can Ankh and Eiji fight like that untransformed?

So Eiji has a smartphone now? I guess only having pantsu for tomorrow got old... And Kougami is still amusing. And Eiji is still a very good rider. His chemistry with Ankh is still very entertaining. And the secondary trio is still awesome as always together. Even Hina was ok in the movie. OOO really had a great cast (except for Hina an Chioko, but that was the writer's fault) If only the plot was better...

That bit with the jet ski was pretty awesome. And Aqua's henshin pose was pretty cool and old school. His suit is pretty cool, except when they use a life vest in the water scenes...

Ankh from the future? Nice. But it's strange. With all this future and time travel stuff I was expecting you-know-who to show up.

And suddenly, Foundation X. And a westerner!

What? Fuuto? Watashi kitenai!

Kamen Rider Joker!!!!!!!!11!!!!!eleven!!!! Fucking joker is too cool.

4z's part and crossover

So, they were cosplaying as riders for the festival. And Gen-chan was Stronger. Now I know why they left skyrider, Super 1 and ZX out of the fight.

nadesico is from Ryusei's school.

Gen fighting with Nadesico in his arms was cool. KR Nadesico looks ok, but the SFX while she was fighting were terrible.

Poor Gen-chan. He falls in love and the girl is space slime... And she dies. What was strange was that Miu was pretty much ok with it, even though she's supposed to like Gen.

Super rocket was a lame movie power up.

Gen and Shota meeting was funny. Shota was pretty cool before transforming. And LOL @ his reaction to uchuu kitaaaaa.

Killing helicopters with a car, Bruce Willis? That's lame. Riders kill them with bikes. While riding them. Very nice to see W in action again.

Comparing with other riders, OOO's combos are pretty strong.

Having the old riders as medals and switches was lame. And LOL @ Amazon when he heard tomodachi.

Super TaToBa is ugly. It feels like they left a lot out between the rider finishes and the rest of the battle in the ship.

The last battle was too full of CGI for my taste.

Meteor was pretty cool at the end.

MEGAMAX was a good movie. The stories of the two riders were pretty much just spin-off material, but they were ok. The main plot putting Foundation X in the spotlight again was ok too, but not awesome. But if we ignore the seven riders switches and medals and Aqua's second appearance, there are no holes or lame stuff, which is good, specially because unlike the previous crossovers, this one tied the riders since the beginning and didn't need a lame excuse to put them together.

Other than that, the fights were awesome and it was entertaining.

I really enjoyed this movie. The thing is, during the Movie Megamax part, did they just make OOO Wonderful canon to the continuity of the OOO tv series? That's the only place where we know Eiji and Gentaro met.

Also, if we go back to the Movie Core movie, the OOO part, and a lot of things about it (how Gotou wore Birth before Date etc) was not in continuity with the tv series, but is with the W timeline, is that now canon to the OOO tv series timeline?
