I didn't really understand the chick substory, but I guess it was funny to see the Toqgers take care of them.

It's great that we get to see what Kagura's bed is like.

The moral of the story was just as bland as Kagura's first cake.

Kagura got lucky and found a nice and patient teacher rather than a demanding and critical taskmaster.

So, the chicken wigs ended up being the downfall of Wig Shadow. The wigs alone might have been okay if the hair grew into a cocoon or something. the chicks seemed to artificial, for lack of a better term, and served as a lead-in to kagura's cake baking montages. other than that, it was a decent episode.

So just so I'm clear, this wasn't Cooking Mama Vs. Legend of Zelda?
Also, boy do I hope that Hyper Pink's gimmick doesn't stick, I want to see her pretend to be super girl while solo Hyper.

Better version of this episode. Kagura accidentally walks into the bakery from Gaim. Oren gives her intense military training,

Kagura then engages in intense guerrilla warfare against the shadow line. Oren also replaces Toq-4.

Why TOQ-4? If anything, Oren should replace TOQ-2. Also your alternate take sounds like the one Boukenger episode when Pink and Yellow went all military.

As for Kagura's bedroom, I was kind of surprised to see that they even had their own rooms. We've only ever seen them hanging out in the same couple of cars, I guess I just assumed that they all slept on the benches like we've seen them catch naps on them from time to time. They even rested on the benches when everybody was sick at the end of episode 27, though I guess you could argue that was just to make it easier for Wagon and Right to take care of them. It's kind of late in the game to be establishing that they all have their own rooms (or at least Kagura does), but whatever.

I can't say I cared for this episode. I'll give the writers credit for pointing out how convoluted their own plan was, but it doesn't change the fact that this was somewhat dumb, even by Sentai standards.

And I'm trying really hard not to be cynical here, but why is it I get the distinct impression that they put Pink and Yellow in Hyper Ressha at the same time just to avoid having to spend 2 episodes on the girls?

Edit: Oh and Takenoko, do you know if there's a reason that all of this week's encodes have been at a lower bitrate? ToQ 30 720p was at 1.8Mbps instead of 2Mbps, and Gaim 47 HD 1080p was at 2.7Mbps instead of 3Mbps.

I dunno what happened there. I noticed the files were small, so I reencoded the SD and it was still small. Must have been something off with the bitrate calculator or something.

Next Season: Super Sentai Toriranger, featuring the chickens from this episode. All joking aside, what was up with those chickens being so overpowered? Seems kind of a waste for them to just appear in one episode if they're going to be that strong. They should be like secret weapons for the Toqgers. I don't know why Wagon and the Conductor thought roast chicken would be a good idea...

Next ep looks pretty interesting, although it seems like Noire and Schwarz end up losing based on the preview.

I think this episode introduces the worst sentai villain power ever.

The cake part was good, but could have used more to it; maybe if it had linked up with the super hero part of the story better.

On the bright side, the toqger boys look great in blond wigs.

Wig Shadow looked absolutely incredible. What an awesome design! I haven't felt terribly inspired with them lately, but damn, that chicken/wig thing was rockin'.
