Toqger Songs

Post by takenoko »

So I managed to listen to three songs so far

Darkness ~Yami no Yuusha~
Oh hey, Nero has his own song? Some parts are okay, but overall I don't like it. Nice touch having the Shadow Line sing though.

Green Anchor
A Hikari theme song? Yes! We hear part of it in the background of one ep, but it's nice to hear the full thing. It's upbeat, but also really quietly passionate, which fits his character.

Choo-Choo WAGON
I surprisingly liked this song. I thought it'd be way oversexualized or annoying, but it's quite a cute song. Way to go Horie Yui.

/me waits for more songs to pop up on his ipod.

Blue Lens no Mukou e
I was surprised by Tokacchi's song. I'm not familiar with his singing voice, and he sounds fairly masculine in this. Of course, now that I know it's him, I can totally hear his character in this.

Yellow heart
Mio's singing voice is really high. It's a little catchy. One interesting thing to note is that the lyrics were written by Riria, Mio's actress.

Sanjou! Narikiri GIRL
Unfortunately, I couldn't really get into this song. It's too bad, since I do like Kagura.

Noire Noire Nooire
Hisakawa Aya is a voice acting pro, and it shows here. (Sailor Mercury, Cure Moonlight and a million other roles.) I actually didn't think I liked this song at first, but after repeat listens, I can really admire how much range she has. There's something about the timber of her voice that's so, I dunno, maybe sexual? While not an overly sexual character, she's definitely extremely feminine. She's both a mother and a stereotype of a noble woman.

Ankoku no Arika
If Noire is a song that makes use of femininity, then Ankoku no Arika makes use of the Emperor's masculinity. Ohkuchi Kengo does a great job with this song. There's definitely a touch of loneliness and sadness in the song that's befitting his character.

Unfortunately, the other songs really didn't stick with me. I don't really like mecha theme songs since they all sound the same to me. And the theme songs aren't catchy enough to keep on my ipod.

I always buy from Amazon Japan, since they were cheaper than CD Japan for a long time:

But it looks like the CD Japan copy might be cheaper:

Might want to compare shipping costs and see which is cheaper overall for where you live

Edit: It's worth noting that you can preview the songs on the Amazon page.

I always enjoy the songs that the cast sing.

Another option for the CD purchasing is Yesasia.com. They have free shipping if you order a certain amount (over $50 maybe? It's been awhile since I ordered from them), but their shipping time is a LOT slower than CD Japan or Amazon if you go the free route.

I always forget about Yesasia. I think HMV also ships internationally, but I've found their stuff to be a bit expensive. I mostly relied on them to buy games, since Amazon doesn't ship games internationally:

Oh yeah. I thought that was super interesting that a one-off song like that was included. Or even made. I don't remember if we subbed the lyrics, but aren't they about how the Kaijin's going to drag you off to die or something? Enjoy that, kids!

This was one of the reasons why i finally registered :P i was wondering if the lyrics had been subbed or not, I found myself repeating the opening lines that you subbed on the episode itself, but i'm glad they released the full song.

There you go. I'll need to check the lyrics against the song, since I just did it off the kanji (never reliable, especially with me). Unfortunately, I deleted the song from my ipod, so I'll have to get the CD out or something. But let me know if anything sounds off.

Would it be too much to ask if you could translate Green Anchor as well? That song is easily one of the best ones off the image tracks.

There you go. It really is impressive how Fujibayashi Shoko gets into the head of the characters that she writes songs about. I wonder if she follows the show and how much interaction she gets with the writers.

Had a little difficulty since they use Right/light and Hikari/light as being interchangeable terms.

Any more song requests?
