The kanji for their name says "artificial life form". We're guessing it's android+mutant. Only the problem is we're going from English to Japanese back to English, so the pronunciation doesn't exactly match up. andoroido+myutanto = (ando) roi (do) myu(tanto) (andoroi)do

But since Roimyudo doesn't capture the Englishness of the word, then we've got Roimud, which is accurate, but you lose the long u sound from mutant. So we added another vowel to get Roimuid, which is accurate without being too far to either side.

as for the car name, I prefer Tridoron rather than Trideron which is more accurate to the katakana and really homage to it's predecessor

I honestly don't find anything wrong with the detective thing. A private detective and a police detective are, in fiction at least, two very different things.

Also...this is Toku. Things get redone. Look at Sentai. We've had a ninja motif twice (Kakuranger/Hurricanger), Cars three times (Turboranger/Carranger/Go-Onger), and Dinosaurs three times (Zyuranger/Abaranger/Koryuuger). Even staying with Kamen Rider, we just finished up on a "Hero turns into something not quite human" plot for the THIRD time, behind Blade and OOO. And yet, every single one of those stories played out differently.

I think we've all been taken aback by some ideas before a show starts only to warm up to them as they go along. Gaim is a great example. I remember everyone scoffed at the suit and the premise ("Fruit?? WTF??). Hell, I watched the first episode and kinda went "meh" and didn't watch for the first 18 episodes before I binged on it and became hooked.

Keeping an open mind is good when it comes to Toku.

The third promo definitely has me on the fence; it could go wither way. The start of the preview definitely suggests it could be its own show, but the bit at the 0:33 mark had "Gaia Memory Dealer scene" written all over it. Time will tell as to just how much of a "fresh twist" this show gives us I guess.
