I just imagine Kinji being super bad ass now since he learned advanced techniques without the basics. Once he gets the basics down, he probably beat Mr. I'm On Fire easily. It was rather dumb for the kid just to throw Takaharu's dream ball so they can show off the new toy once again while the others are spinning their thumbs like no other.

ive only recently become a sentai fan. i stopped watching PR before jungle something or other, and mystic force felt like harry potter to me so after those 2 i was done with PR. i was interested in Samurai, but now not having TV watching PR is impossible. (nope! wont watch US TV on the internet because i prefer to download and legalities etc) so i watched Shinkenger. i compared it to samurai and i have to say i liked Shinkenger more. since i went back to my old favorite wildforce but got gaoranger which lacked something i was hoping to see. namely the new weapons and battlizer. this took me to the rangerwiki, and since i have watch gokaiger and am working on dairanger (25 episodes in) i really liked the sentai series because of the better story telling, characters are far better, and doesnt seem as cheap. i got gekiranger waiting in the hard drive to be viewed too! (gokaiger made my hunger for more series grow greatly.)

when i saw shuriken sentai ninninger, i had to laugh because the the name seemed off color. when i read what the series was about, and the themes involved, (ninja festive, weather for the names, ninja that dont hide, words everywhere etc) it seemed very excited. ive enjoyed most the of the episodes, with no dislike for any. the mech have been great, and the inclusion of starninger, especially this week making him a true member of the team, were all things i liked. i knew that since shinkenger sentai's ratings have been down. when i read that the team was all family, i thought perhaps they were trying to reinvent shinkenger but in lue of samurai, ninja!

woefully, this is turning out to be more like anime in which the main character is OP, everyone else is just as his pals. im a fan of anime too, so this is a dull point to me. can the z fighters win without goku? nope! the sailor senshi without moon? not likely. yup this would be that type of anime.

and at first shinkenred, takeru was OP and tried to do everything on his own too, granted the reasons are very different here with takaharu, but still the other members caught up. the difference being that takeru didnt want the help of his team because of his plot point. takaharu is just op and the others dont even seem to try or want to catch up. i think aoninger does, same with kasumi, but in the end ....

im enjoying the series for what it is, and there are many things i like. i just wish/hope the plot thickens soon other wise is the sentai version of an anime in which the main character is OP and everyone else is there because they needed a cast.

but were not quite half way through yet. and you know, around ep 25 is when things really heat up. so lets wait and see!

No; I had the extreme misfortune of sitting through every episode of Toqger, hoping (quite futilely) that there would be something redeeming in the main characters. The villains were the most well-written, well-acted and enjoyable part of the show - I was actually rooting for them to win. At least Ninninger doesn't have a cast of adults acting like little children (I know that
SpoilerShow
the Toqgers were kids all along which explained their behavior
, but it still didn't make them less irritating to watch) and mecha designs that look like SOME effort was put into them.

I think the catchphrase is contagious. Kasumi and Kinji both uttered Takanimrod's smoldering words. Honestly i just skipped through the episode. The amount of focus on red is staggering. What do we know of the other characters? Very little to nothing. This show is less like a sentai and more like an anime.

At least Drive is not totally focused on Shinnosuke.

Erm, isn't that every combined mech in sentai? That if one or more members missing, then it won't be at 100%.
Like, I swear there's been moments in general Sentai where a member was gone and the others are like "We have to hold on till they return".
Also Takaharu's not the first red to get a side-mecha so.. ???

The unwritten book of toy sales declares that the user must flaunt his new toy for a few episodes then it'll settle down.
Please see Gold mode under Gokaiger 19 for more details. XD

Shimoyama wasn't the one who cast Shunsuke Nishikawa. Iirc, that'd fall under head producer Naomi Takebe's role.

While there are some things i do enjoy in this show....But i twould be better for all, if it just continues to become worse. We need it, so we won't have a replay in next sentai, and im scared of that, if Ninninger will end even slighty above the line of ok. Ninninger is a prime example of a failed Super sentai show, as it screws up the most important thing in it, the team. You can say all you want about other reds, who had a lot of focus put on them, and were getting power ups onyl for themself, but no matter what, they gave the team a room to breath, something Takaharu never done for anyone on the team, since the beginning.

Normally i wouldn't be this mean, but i hope actor for Red won't find quickly next job after Ninninger, just to show, that doing the necessary minimum will be enough, it's one thing when you start at the beginning, but it's 21 ep and i don't see him trying to improve frikking anything, best he did was that serious out of place scene at the end of an ep, and that's that. And i doubt it's the fault of a director? Or whoever is tellin actors hwo to act, cos everyone else is doing a good job, Star is also loud as Takaharu, and yet he still sound way better, so i blame Taka entirely on his actor.

Also, goign back to pros and cons of this show....For me, pros doesn't matter, cos of one reason....I recently started watching anime called Overlord, slowass pacing, with anything happening at 3 ep, but you know what? It didn't bothered me, why? Cos characters, they all piqued my interested, they made me laugh, they made me want to see more of them , even if there was as much fo a plot as in Lucky Star. For me, Char >>>>Plot, and i do mean it. If you make a char that people want to see, even if all hes doing are conversation, then you have more then half victory, cos no matter what adventure awaits him, people will want to see him go throu it, cos they already enjoy him. Sometimes, not good character, can take you away even from a realyy good story, simple ebcos you must experience it throu those boring character. But that is not the case in Ningers, cos the most interesting stuff is going on, while team isn't present, but to get to that, you must get rhou not a boring character, but an annoying one. And that si the greatest sin you can do, not catching viewer attention with char is one thing, k, so he doesnt care bout them, still he wants to see the story, but if you actually makes it harder to them, by putting a wall known as a char that pisses you off, then you fail. And that is second greatest Ninger sin more then they screwing up SS conception. They make it an actual annoying challenge, to get to those small little things you enjoy. So, if there are good things bout Ningers? Yeah. Do they help my opinion on the show? Abso-goddamn-lutely not, it doesn't matter to me what they'll show, as much as i want to know Kyuuemon story, its not worth going throu Takaharu, and it reaches a level when i might drop series, and read that secret on wiki, after its revealed.

Ningers must fall even further down, it must become a disaster so we wont see it again.

Oh and ep, skipped like 60% of it, just focused on fights.

While yes, I do wish we'd get some more focus and actual development of the other characters....well, he's not Toq-1, so he's automatically 100% less irritating. Plus, I've got this feeling that Grandpa (in-universe) and the writers (out-of-universe) are giving him JUST enough rope to hang himself with and eventually he's gonna be faced with a situation where there's no-one around to support him and his rush-in-recklessly tactics are going to screw him over, making him realize how much he depends on everyone else (I thought they were going that route in the "upgrade" episode but they didn't follow up on it the way they should have). Might come too late in the show for some people but I'm pretty sure that's how it's going to end up. I more or less kept silent about my hatred of Toqger for a year, so I'm sorry if anyone gets angry that I actually dare to like this show which is almost universally despised, but, well, there it is. I am loving Ninninger despite its flaws (and likely BECAUSE OF a couple of them).
I think there are some problems about your taste which is different with us. Is ToQ Ichigou annoy than Takaharu? Maybe you did not watch any episodes of ToQGer or just viewed some first episodes and final episodes rather than whole series
This comment is a little unsettling. Gumo's opinion of the shows is Gumo's opinion, so saying that his opinions (and taste) have "problems" is, at best, insulting. It's an opinion, and it doesn't matter what the opinion is or how it differs from others, and opinion cannot be "wrong" or flawed. Personally, Toqger was one of my favorite Sentai, and Ninninger is currently my least favorite. Gumo and I have the exact opposite opinion on the shows, but i'm not going to get on here and say anything to try to convince him to turn around because it's an opinion and we're both entitled to it, regardless of how different they may be. If he got on here and said, "Yakumo's helmet is orange", then someone could reasonably say "Ok, there's a problem here", but no for an opinion. There's no such thing as a wrong opinion.

I digress.... I had planned on letting five episodes stack up and watching them back-to-back in an effort to motor through this series, but I downloaded it after reading Takenoko's rant. I've been on this site for a little under a year and have yet to see him say anything openly negative about a series, so for that post to appear meant something big was happening.  I didn't like this episode, but then again I didn't hate it as much as the Lawnmower episode. I laughed for the first time in about 4 or 5 episodes while Taka was looking for a job and found the one for people who don't think. It's pretty clear to me that Takaharu is intentionally written as a buffoon, since they're constantly poking fun at it with things like the job search. It's just still disappointing that the other five are a support to the buffoon. After seeing this episode, I would not be surprised to see something in the Ending Arc that names one of the others as the Last Ninja because of their ability to support the buffoon so well. Either that, or the entire team becomes the Last Ninjas. It almost seems too simple at this point to just continue with this story as-is and not have some big twist at the end.

I would like to think so. Believe me, I think that if that happens it will vastly improve the quality of the series. In fact I would even go so far to say that it needs to happen at some point to salvage the series. But I must confess that I remain skeptical given that the plot and writing in the power-up episode seemed to go out of their way to validate Takaharu's current behavious

And as was pointed out even a future plot twist in that direction can't really retroactively justify the poor acting on the part of Takaharu's actor.

Not at full capacity maybe, but a few episodes ago the more or less made it explicit that Shuriken-jin can't operate unless all five stations are manned (hence Fuuka and Nagi have to use multiple clones trying to operate everything). Compare and contrast Shinkenger where Mako and Kotoha could operate Shinken-oh just fine on their own while the boys were piloting Daitenku. That's the crucial difference here and where the screwed up (either by accident, or deliberately in trying to shill Takaharu).

Did everyone forget where two people ran the mecha a month ago?

Red is annoying, I was hopeful there was more to his character during the super serious scene with Fuuka early on. Don't know why he is getting the focus in most the episode, why no one else gets a chance to sit on the throne aside from Blue. It's like the director has no idea how to do a Sentai, possibly the writer to. I'm just hoping there's an episode 25-30 turn around that seems to be very common lately.

well, aoninger was able to sit on the throne because his dragomaru was sitting on the throne. there is little chance for wanmaru or trainmaru to do this. and since dumpmaru is the throne itself ... youd think paomaru and ufomaru would allow for others to sit on the throne, hell even surfermaru is takaharu's.

someone speculated that red is the final shuriken or something like that. maybe well get several episodes where he is absent or hecomes kibaoni somehow and the reason he is so annoying is because they felt it best to make him seem OP and show the team struggle against a family member ... nah im giving too much credit at this point.

i do like the lion ha-oh theme though.....

No, but only by employing cloning which is implied not to be very effective. Granted Yakumo and Kasumi could probably do better in such a situation but still. The fact all five stations need to someone controlling them seems tailor made to side-line Shuriken-jin when all the team's not present. And the cloning technique also required extra chopping and changing around on behalf of the suit actors which makes it more difficult in terms of filming as well. Be it poor planning and not thinking things through or deliberately setting things up so there's more focus on Takaharu, it's a bad design.

But it's still possible for less than five to run the mecha. It may be hard for one person to run it and maybe there's going to be that one episode where Takaharu has to do it all himself. Since that's what the show is probably moving towards.

whats interesting is, in terms of running shurikenjin, what do the other rangers really do? it seems whoever sits on the throne is in control and the others just stand there and ... i assume ... supply ranger to the mech.
