Beast of the white light or Midnight sun?

Post by KamenRiderBritannia »

Ok, just started watching Garo and so far im enjoying it. However, im a tad confused on the movie front.

According to the batch torrent theres a movie called Beast of the white light (with no record of beast of the Midnight sun)

while on the Garo wikipedia page (yes i know wikipedia isnt exactly the most reliable source, plz dont post here telling me that), the converse is true (midnight sun is the movie and no record of white light)

whats going on? have you guys simply just not subbed one movie? or is wikipedia just wrong?

They are the same. Whoever did the entry on wikipedia translated it as midnight sun. TVNH has done it as white night. They mean the same thing.

Wikipedia is silly. There was no midnight sun in the movie!

I feel like we've answered this question a few times. Anyway...

Bakuya: 白夜 【はくや】 (n) white (arctic) night, short night, midnight sun

So it can be translated as "white night" or "midnight sun", but if you look up midnight sun:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_sun
It refers to a specific weather phenomenon that happens in the arctic.

If you look at the kanji, it means literally "white night", which is what happens in the movie. Since the night becomes so bright that it becomes white. There is no sun visible at night phenomenon in the movie, so calling it midnight sun is just incorrect.

And to beat a dead horse, not everything that you read from Wikipedia is accurate. Especially when it comes to toku things, since from hearsay, the guy who moderates it is a douche or something. If the people in power aren't reliable to keep the information impartial, the whole everyone contributes and the information is corrected doesn't work.
