God, I love this movie. It just hits all the right notes on both an action and drama level. It was a perfect epilogue to the TV series

I'm glad they could revive Jabi (despite Kodama blowing her to pieces), but I always thought it was random.

Also, is the actor that played Tsubasa the one that played Kamen Rider Rey/Saga/Dark Kiva II ?

Yes, and also Hayami in Cutie Honey the Live.

Thank you for the Improved Garo.

I'm sure it feels great to take dvds of a series you've subbed before and pop out an even greater product, right?

Thanks for subbing this again. I am so totally in love with Jabi, now. Dmn, that woman is hot. Really wish that there was more than just mutual respect between her and Kouga, though.

Shouldn't the title be translated as Beast of the Midnight sun?

No, because a midnight sun is a specific phenomenon that doesn't occur in this movie?

白夜 【はくや】 (n) white (arctic) night, short night, midnight sun

Oh, Jabi came back! I guess my memory wasn't so faulty during the series when I thought there was something else she had left to do.

Other than Yamamoto Shouma popping up again, I didn't remember much about this movie. It was good. There was the adorable apprentice in Rin (although I was ready to groan when Zaruba pointed out he still smelled Horror blood and Rin was the only one left - we didn't need to revisit the human-stained-by-blood plot all over again), Makai Knights that can't get along, Jabi reviving and doing multiple things that are critical to the plot, Kouga remembering his mother, and a really sweet reunion between Kaoru and Kouga. If it wasn't for the fact that there's very little character introduction and you wouldn't have much invested in them without it, this movie is almost strong enough to stand on its own.

I know Wikipedia used to have it written as "Beast of the White Night". Why they suddenly changed it to "Midnight Sun" is beyond me, but if TV-N are sticking with "White Night" then so will I.

This was a special of epic proportions and a fantastic companion to the series. My favourite scene probably has to be that gravity chase through the forest; pretty inspired stuff, and it's not one of those things that lasts for 2 minutes and then it's done, it's quite a drawn-out sequence.

Watching this again though reminded me of something: there's a small part in there where Kouga remembers his mother speaking a few lines. This happens at 48:57 and again at 1:34:36, and both times the lines are not translated, and I don't think they were on the previous release either. I think it's pretty much the same thing we hear her say again at 1:37:18, where you do finally translate it, but that always confused me. Was there some specfic reason you guys left the subtitles off for those two instances? :?:

i think its cause they aren't Japanese lines and we don't know what language they are

Heh, hope QC doesn't mind, but one of them thought it was Korean. It's not in any language dude. Maybe it's in Makai language. But in any case, the viewer understands its meaning when Kouga does, at the end when he remembers what it actually means
