$20 is about standard price for movies in Japan honestly.

Spoilers, luna is a dirty liar
http://www.amazon.co.jp/DVD-%E3%83%96%E ... ode=561958
So saying $10 is about 1000 yen (so 20 bucks is about 2000 yen) I doubt you'll see anything below 3000 yen in that list.
The cheapest thing I see on there is Pacific Rim at 2891 yen. The next cheapest is After Earth at 3604 yen. But you might say "Well, these are just Blu-rays". Fine, let's look at the DVD-only section:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=amb_link_ ... d_i=561958
It's oddly not that much cheaper!
You can check out CD Japan if you don't want to deal with the Japanese:

Standard price for movie tickets, not DVDs XP Those are way more expensive. Most people just rent them, way cheaper.

I was mostly referring to the Blu-ray price. The movie ticket was higher than most prices around here, but not outrageously so. I like Garo a lot, but I don't know that I could justify paying $60 for one movie. Also, a lot of those on the Amazon page are actually Blu-rays, though they say DVD.

Yeah, the second page is the DVD-only section. The first one is just movies in general I guess.

Both pages have some blu-rays in them. For example, Man of Steel is in the second link with a blu-ray version. Although, to be fair, it's the Blu-ray/DVD combo version.

Re: Garo Soukoku no Maryu released (3300 releases)
Finally got to watching this.
I really enjoyed it, though it didn't seem to have much to do with the main story of Garo. It was basically Kouga goes to Oz.
When I saw Kakashi, I was thinking, "Have I seen this actor before?". When I discovered it was the guy who plays Takatora on Gaim I was surprised. The characters are so different!

Re: Garo Soukoku no Maryu released (3300 releases)
So I finally watched this after many months of putting it off, mostly cause I didnt like it when I timed it
Watching it, I still don't like the movie in general, I give it credit for trying to do something different, but to me, it just couldn't quite pull it off as a serious movie that Garo is all about.
I can see they attempted to do a lot of cool stuff, but the final execution just wasn't there in my opinion. I wish they had spent a bit more time making actual sets instead of just green screening everything, it just made it look like I was watching a video game at times with some of the effects.
I don't understand peoples hate of Yami for using CGI for the fights and yet don't complain about all the CGI in this one,
For me, this was weaker than Zero Black Blood in terms of movies that have been done.

Re: Garo Soukoku no Maryu released (3300 releases)
The issue is not the CG, is the use of it. If you use CG to create a totally different world to developt the story, like other directors like Kazuaki Kiriya or Zack Snyder, you may like it or not, but it is consistent.XIII wrote: I don't understand peoples hate of Yami for using CGI for the fights and yet don't complain about all the CGI in this one,
If you use horrible CG to integrate something in the real world, something that in most of the times could be done better with real suits, then there's a problem.
The first is like using CG to create a dragon, perfectly logical, and the second one is like using CG to create a table. Why don't you use a real table to begin with?
