This episode title describes the purple knight, the Knight of Defense, Gaia. So the man who inherits the title of Gaia is Rafael Banderas (Sounds like a good name to me). This episode is written by the anime writer Yoshimura Kiyoko.

I think that's Luis' grandfather or the predecessor of the Garo title who uses the original armor... not the main character.

Yeah, they are the spirits of the previous Garo reunited. Like when Kouga or Raiga achieved Gouten. Actually they gave more information about how is possible that every Garo spirit are reunited in the same spot.
