Okay, so it seems like it's what we thought it would be. A series of episodic tales from the Garoverse, hosted by Gonza as our Tales of the Cryptesque storyteller.

For you Rekka fans, you won't be disappointed. Speaking of which, "Hi, Shiguto. Bye, Shiguto!" At least he showed up, right?

Hey it's the bad guy from W and whatever again. He sure has been popping up a lot lately. Edit: Nevermind, it's Riku from Kabuto. I swear that old Japanese guys all look the same to me:

It's nice to see Rekka's acting has improved. Like if she had a lone story before, it would have been unbearably stilted. But she seems a lot more comfortable with the whole thing now. I kind of wish the choreography were a little better though. It seems like her previous work was a little better, so it's a little give and take.

Is that Nishi Rintaro back as the voice of the heroic spirit Garo? And it's Kengi! It's always exciting to see his actor.

A nice nod to Red Requiem at the end.

And I like the little twist at the end. It takes a ghost to fight a ghost.

Pretty nice start, I loved it! Hopefully we will get to see every major character by the end of the series.

I'm glad Shiguto-san is back!! Hope to see more!

I was so relieved that the grandfather turned out to be a guardian spirit, since I suspected for most of the episode that he had been possessed by the Horror he mentioned got chased into the forest.

Nice little story. To be honest, the last couple plots in Garo fell on the weak side, so I think short stories that give the side characters a little more screen time will be a fun change of pace. Plus, there is so much in the Garo universe that can stand to be explained in more detail. These stories might be a good way to flesh out an already-detailed fictional universe.

Hibana's actress looked so familiar. I was sure she'd been in Sentai or Rider, but it doesn't seem like it.

I hope Shiguto and his gigantic brush get to come back for their own vignette.

Garo's strong point has always been the side stories, which are interesting and well fleshed out and give a lot of life to the world around them. If the whole series is going to be just a bunch of vignettes with no overall arching story, I could honestly get really behind this. I hope there's another one similar to the manhole cover Horror, that one takes my vote for best Garo episode ever.

Where do you think this is placed chronologically? Considering that Shiguto has the big brush, among another RR references, it obviously takes place after Red Requiem. But after Makai Senki? Tougen no fue? Is there any hint about those?

I'm curious as to how much this series will cover, and what will happen at the mid-point of the series. The Saejima period could cover Rekka, Jabi, Rei, Tsubasa, Baron (the Zanki fellow, can't remember his name), Reo Fudo, Kaoru, and Kouga, but that's only 8, assuming the "lesser" characters of Baron and Reo were to be covered, and whether or not they went back to do something else on the well-covered Rei, Kaoru, and Kouga stories. I can't see the series moving into the Ryuga series though, since Gonza wouldn't really be part of that, right?

Dunno. Gonza is just a storyteller, so anything goes. Given the ambiguous status of the Yami no Terasu storyline, they could make up anything to connect it to Gonza. Besides, it'd seem rude to overlook Ryuuga and his friends, since they had two TV series and a movie. They're just as much a part of the 10th anniversary as anyone else.

In the eyecatch for the commercials you can see Saejima's Garo sword and Garo Sho's sword, so it's pretty much confirmed that this show will cover some "future timeline" characters.

Nice. This should be really good going forward.

Love it. Garo best were always the one off stories. And this seems like it's going with that.

I look forward to discovering that standout standalone. Rekka kicking off the show is interesting. We got talks of Makai Knights and their battle against Horrors, but we saw none of that in this episode. Good set up for what's to come. Also this is a return to form in term of atmosphere.

Excited to see the other characters.
