So, you just wanted to say you dropped Ex-Aid? Okay.., not sure what kind of reply you were expecting in response but, okay.

Why would you drop Ghost ;_;
we are here to take the blame; to take the taunts and live the shame
we are here to make you feel; it terrifies you, but it's real
Re: Poll: What's your opinion of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid?
Wasn't expecting any response, just wanted to (sarcastically) say that Ex-Aid is really, really bad. I dropped Ghost after, like, 30 episodes or something. I could only bear with 6 episodes of Ex-Aid. Am I growing older or something? Or are Kamen Riders becoming more and more dull and stupid? I tend to think the latter, because I'm really enjoying myself with Fourze - last time I was this hyped was for Gaim.Go-On Macaroni wrote:So, you just wanted to say you dropped Ex-Aid? Re: Poll: What's your opinion of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid?
Well, the thing about Rider is that every single entry is going to be incredibly, vastly different in theme and tone. What really gets you excited about one may be completely absent from the next. I don't think it has anything to do with age, or the franchise itself changing (though it has shifted somewhat since Kuuga but that's a whole different can of worms).
You'd have to sit down and really examine what exactly you're enjoying about Fourze, or what got you hyped about Gaim, and then see what form (or lack thereof) it's taking in Ex-Aid, or took in Ghost, etc.

Re: Poll: What's your opinion of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid?
I think I was lucky to start with Kabuto and then get Den-O immediately afterwards.
That kinda made more accepting of the fact that different shows have different themes and tones and made me more able to judge each show by its own merits.
In that regard, Ex-Aid thus far holds a place as a "slightly more serious Fourze". Lots of hot blooded action and humor, but with some underlying seriousness. It does however lack the high octane awesome fuel that Fourze has.
Definitely better than Ghost, which I did like in its own way, but it occupied a very unusual (and rather ineffective) space between low-humor and low-seriousness. I do appreciate how Ghost treated death when it became relevant, however.

So...does anyone think that Ex-Aid is slightly similar to 555? I kinda do.

Re: Poll: What's your opinion of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid?
Emu and Takumi are similar in the sense of that they both can use the Rider belts w/o having to go through anything.
I know it's a very weird idea, but I thought about it when I was watching episode 16.
Spoiler
For example, in Ex-Aid one has to go and take the Compatibility Surgery in order to transform into a Rider. In 555, one would have to have Orphenoch DNA or be an Orphenoch themselves.
We know that Emu has a Bugster within him so he can use it without any problems. And in 555, we find out later in the series that Takumi can use it because he's an Orphenoch.

Takumi being an Orphenoch was revealed very late and very suddenly. And not only that, but he knew he was an Orphenoch the entire time. The hints were here and there but very subtle and easy to miss.
Meanwhile, the weirdness surounding Emu/M was kind of in your face.

I knew that. I was saying that they were similar cause they both can use the Drivers due to the fact that both are monsters (Well Takumi is anyway. Not ruling out Emu yet, just waiting until the series progresses)Dengar wrote:Takumi being an Orphenoch was revealed very late and very suddenly. Re: Poll: What's your opinion of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid?
so, finally caught up to eps20. only watch it on the week it released until eps 4 or something, but few days ago i suddenly think about this and kinda want to watch again. up until episode 10-ish, it's barely bearable. i only go through it since i was really really bored at the time and got nothing else to do/watch. but when the build up to lazer's arc and genm reveal start, it picking up my interest and it just gets better since. sure there's some questionable cringey moment here and there, but it's still good. hopefully it keeps the good momentum. also, the nurse Asuna is THE BEST!

Since this is my first time watching a Kamen Rider, I really like it. Granted Level 1 is ridiculous, but still fun, and really fits the video game aesthetic . And I find the story getting better as it progresses.
Also, knowing now that the firsts episodes are before Christmas explains the push for MORE stuff on screen so quickly.

Let me tell you one thing, riders weren't always ridiculous looking, mainly modern kid friendly, & use collectables to the extent it is now, if you weren't aware already, so when you have the opportunity watch the first 10 Heisei series and maybe the Showa era if you have the timedeuxcolors wrote:Since this is my first time watching a Kamen Rider, I really like it. Re: Poll: What's your opinion of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid?
I didn't mean ridiculous in a bad way per-se. "Super funny" might have been a better way to put, and I do know that this is the only season to use the SD look (and honestly I hope the last). It "works" with the concept of video games, but in that case the monsters should also have used a similar Level 1 look instead of the "CGI turd." But as the show is progressing we don't have any more "CGI dookie" and less and less Level 1 (besides Mighty Brothers).Kurokage X wrote:Let me tell you one thing, riders weren't always ridiculous looking, mainly modern kid friendly, & use collectibles to the extent it is now, if you weren't aware already, so when you have the opportunity watch the first 10 Heisei series and maybe the Showa era if you have the time
I've been doing my homework on KR, and I plan and slowly cherry picking my way through it's history. I've got Gaim ready to watch. The only real issue I have is that I have to dedicate my focus to the show for the duration of the episode since it is subtitled and sometimes I've got too much to do...

First time i see Ex-aid i thought it will be boring, but good thing I'm wrong!
So excited every week to watch the show!
Love the way they didn't use 2 episode rules on ex-aid too.
