Wow, that really was a step up from the previous movie. Pretty much everything about this was spot-on Ex-Aid at its peak. Which isn't just a function of the characters, but the strength of the plot as well.
Overall, I think this movie benefited from having much better loose threads to work with. Namely that if you're going to restore dead people, then Mrs. Dan - Poppy's host - is among them. And that is guaranteed to have consequences. By contrast, Parado's story is a bit weaker because he doesn't have the same loose ends, but I will give the writers credit for looping this all the way back to his genesis with Dr. Pacman. (Wow, when has the winter movie ever been this relevant in a series?!) I do wish they had given Poppy's actress some more lines though; even though her name is on the movie title, she spends a lot of time stupefied. Most of the good, forceful lines go to the Parados, Dan, and Saiko.
Speaking of which, in retrospect I should have seen it coming that Saiko's father was Dr. Pacman. It was clear in episode 1 that the identity of her father would be an important point, but I never really stopped to to think about it. Of course, having a daughter is a bit of a hindquarters-pull to begin with, but it definitely gives the movie stakes that it otherwise would be lacking.
I also really liked Dan's master plan, and how his
other master plan was just a feint. Dan wanting Emu's power is an incredibly Dan thing to do, since after all it was that power that Dan underestimated and allowed Emu to stop his plans for world domination to begin with.
Also holy crap, ParadFaux shot Emu!
And not just lightly; that was, uh, quite a bit of blood splatter we saw.
And I'm not sure if anyone else picked up on this, but there was a funny moment in the big fight. Towards the end Paradox just straight-up chucked his axe right at NegaParadox. Suffice it to say, they never did that in the series. That and finally seeing Burger CEO's monk game was a riot.

Unlike the series proper, which is clearly aimed at kids, these movies are definitely aimed at the secondary market - i.e. us adults. That means no toys, little budget, and for better or worse, more skin and more blood. We got half-way to a nude woman in KR Chaser's post-series video, so it's apparently working?

Does the actor have a fetish for being naked?
If not the actor, then
someone sure has a fetish for it. Over multiple episodes and now in movies as well, friggin Dan just keeps showing up in the buff.
It's practically turned into a visual catch-phrase for him.
