Alt Title - Things that are Whimsical: European settings and Clockwork Junk
Last episode rating: 5 /5 (14 votes)
Series is KILLING it. Why is this series so much better than Black Blood ever was? Alice is a dummy, but she's a fun, adventurous, amusing, and even a bit admirable of a dummy. And even lady's man Rei is getting constantly caught off guard by her antics. She even got him to give her a back hug. So smooth!
Man, Kurehi sure got that lamp out quick. Is that woman ever going to speak, or is she just there to stand in a boobs-pushing corset?
Just thought I'd point this out. This is directed by Arakawa Toqger-Returns Fumie. Where have you been? Did Toei put you in storage after Toq Returns or what?
And so far, this whole series has been written by Umeda Sumiko. I'm honestly not so familiar with her work, but she's apparently done a bunch of writing for Garo already. I want to go see which episodes those were just to have some insight into her style, because I am loving this. And you guys love it too. I have never seen a series with such a consistent 5 streak in the polls. Now if only those view numbers were higher...
But yeah, lady power. It's weird, since it feels like Toei is in a bit of a dry spell. Ninnin and Jyuoh are both mediocre. I skipped Ghost, and Ex-Aid is doing things I've never seen before, mostly because they're a mishmash of terrible ideas, and only now becoming a decent show to watch. And it seems like they're hemorrhaging talent, if the random ass writers is any indication. Meanwhile, the Garo series is thriving with its short stories and small group of lovable characters.
Other weird things, the girl who plays young Alice is cute and a good fit. She's named Ran (Orchid). Kurehi (the bar lady) is named Kuran or crimson orchid. I still don't know what 花罪 is supposed to mean in terms of Kagome's fairy's name. Don't think we even see her in this episode, but she's still listed in the credits.
