Alt Title - Things that are Whimsical: European settings and Clockwork Junk

Last episode rating: 5 /5 (14 votes)

Series is KILLING it. Why is this series so much better than Black Blood ever was? Alice is a dummy, but she's a fun, adventurous, amusing, and even a bit admirable of a dummy. And even lady's man Rei is getting constantly caught off guard by her antics. She even got him to give her a back hug. So smooth!

Man, Kurehi sure got that lamp out quick. Is that woman ever going to speak, or is she just there to stand in a boobs-pushing corset?

Just thought I'd point this out. This is directed by Arakawa Toqger-Returns Fumie. Where have you been? Did Toei put you in storage after Toq Returns or what?

And so far, this whole series has been written by Umeda Sumiko. I'm honestly not so familiar with her work, but she's apparently done a bunch of writing for Garo already. I want to go see which episodes those were just to have some insight into her style, because I am loving this. And you guys love it too. I have never seen a series with such a consistent 5 streak in the polls. Now if only those view numbers were higher...

But yeah, lady power. It's weird, since it feels like Toei is in a bit of a dry spell. Ninnin and Jyuoh are both mediocre. I skipped Ghost, and Ex-Aid is doing things I've never seen before, mostly because they're a mishmash of terrible ideas, and only now becoming a decent show to watch. And it seems like they're hemorrhaging talent, if the random ass writers is any indication. Meanwhile, the Garo series is thriving with its short stories and small group of lovable characters.

Other weird things, the girl who plays young Alice is cute and a good fit. She's named Ran (Orchid). Kurehi (the bar lady) is named Kuran or crimson orchid. I still don't know what 花罪 is supposed to mean in terms of Kagome's fairy's name. Don't think we even see her in this episode, but she's still listed in the credits.

If you wanted to see something awesome that could take your life in the process, be smart, use a smartphone, Alice.

Liked the episode.

Damn I'm loving this series so far. Not a single weak episode and a stellar performance from all the cast. I do like the very dramatic difference between Kaoru and Alice. Kaoru is much more of an unwilling damsel in distress; she tries to keep out of things but keeps getting sucked back in. Alice does what she wants and damned if anyone tries to get in her way. But at the same time you can't hate her for it. There's no malice or egotism, just simple straightforwardness.

This is quite easily the strongest Garo series to date and I hope they can keep up the energy.

This series is firing all cylinders of greatness man, Alice should have gotten a smartphone if she wanted that picture but whatever I love the dynamic she and Rei have, reminds me a lot of Kouga and Kaoru yet the former is willing to put herself in danger, sometimes on her own will or unknown will but whatever, but is blocked off while the latter isn't but gets into it anyway. If you're giving me a series that starts strong, it better end strong

Sometimes, you just gotta take it back to 'Zero'. What can I say? Another 5.

For a bit there I was scared this might turn into lazy writing where the Dragon Knight keeps sending minions to kidnap Alice. That would get boring. If you want something done right, do it yourself. Thankfully, judging by next week's ep, the story continue to progress. Which is good. I'm excited to see where this all goes.

Such an awesome franchise, yet so underrated. Sentai, KR, step up your game! Garo is kicking butts even without the 'Garo' name.

another great episode for this series, indeed this series is very very good. after makai no hana, guren no tsuki and even gold storm, perhaps Dragon Blood is much much better so far, only Honoou no kokuin came close as the competitor for this series so far IMO.

really love alice character so far, she have her own way of doing things which is dummy but yet we cant hate her. yet she's smart as well to make Rei become tight lip when she challange him about his protection promise &
Spoiler
she even can figure it out how to cheated the trap & go escape on her own.
awesome.

this is a very good series, perhaps Garo get a level up since Retsuden, well i really hope they will keep it hugh and high in the future :D

I'm still waiting for Rei to ask Rekka about Kouga so she could be all like, "Dude, funny story, so there's actually multiple universes and other GARO's!"

I don't know if it's the camera or what, but she doesn't look old enough to drive!

On that note, have we established where this series fits in timeline-wise? Since we last saw Rei in Makai no Hana (where he would have been at least 15 years older than he was in Makai Senki), I was under the impression he was just as old here. So the suggestions here about Rei and Alice as an item sounded really weird as he would be twice her age.

So, in a nutshell, is Kouga already missing in this series? On that note, if we ever see Kouga and Raiga together, they'd have to age Kouga with a lot of makeup or something.
