Naria, continue!

Less focus on the PatRangers than I would have liked but overall not bad. They're clearly channeling Zenigata for Keiichirou which might end up backfiring on them.

I have to wonder if the toy sales will end up affecting the show later on. They keep saying "who will you choose" and if they have better sales for one or the other maybe we'll see more focus on that team.

Good Striker looks like a carrot.

Now my question is... Who's that dastardly shout-out to Richard "The Iceman" Kuklinski?? Production crew, you've been watching Isaka's infamy in W and decided to try it again here, eh?? I'll play along.

So collecting the mcguffins in the hopes of reviving their lost loved ones is the Lupinrangers' sole motivation. Ok, but don't be surprised if these little items can't do what you think they could do. I wouldn't be surprised if Kogure was lying.

So whose idea is it to give the Patrangers a Trinity Fusion when using Striker?? Not a fan.

3/5 for now.

I thought this episode was great. It was flashy and fun. The CGI felt cheap at some points and the swap back and forth between real footage and CGI was a bit awkward, but it was great to look at when it was working. What a great dramatic chase scene!

I still feel like the police are taking the shaft. It's nice to know that red cop 1 can make a promise, which makes him relatable to thief red, but I want more. More characterization, more green, more pink. More red acting less like an uptight asshole.

So the LupinRanger backstory is revealed. Not totally a fan of it. It's so random that a Ganglar froze a bunch of people, and then they shattered without leaving a bloody mess. Hmmm, suspicious? Also, when an old man makes a deal with you promising that there is a Precious that can bring people back to life, you should immediately be suspicious. Also also, maybe have a scene with red, yellow, blue to show why these people are important. We know red has a brother, and blue has a fiance? And yellow has... a good friend? Come on, you owe me a sassy and fun yellow this year, don't screw up her characterization by not giving her any backstory. You owe this to me, Toei.

Ugou is dumb.

Good Striker looks dumb.

LupinRangers let the police defeat the monster, but hang around to watch??? Then they end up defeating the monster in their mech anyway?

Let me play out this scenario. The LupinRangers don't hang around, but instead are running away when the Ganglar becomes a giant. Caught off guard, they don't know what to do, but the police, who've been secretly training off screen, use their collection to form a robot. This clues the LupinRangers that they also have this ability, and would be more fair since the LupinRangers got to start off with the devices first, giving more time to the underused PatRangers.

I don't like the effect of the jets being seen on Good Striker before they actually form.

Some nitpicks, but I really enjoyed this episode. Just make sure those LupinRangers continue being stylish and dramatic and we're good Toei.

> They're clearly channeling Zenigata for Keiichirou

Who?

Edit: Oh, and I wasn't too thrilled with the opening song initially, but I think the visuals for the opening are fantastic. It's a bit frenetic, but they've got a lot of stuff to fit in. Now please, take the time to flesh out all these characters. I'm expecting a lot!

The chase scene was weird to me. It's strange to have flying vehicles that are unable to fly over tall buildings. Clearly that limitation was just for the sake of making the chase more interesting.

Right now, I'm rooting for the PatRangers. The LupinRanger origin story has potential but their promise doesn't sit well with me. It operates on the idea that their lives are not as valuable as the loved ones they are trying to resurrect. I would understand if it was a "the many outweigh the few" scenario but they are trying to bring back the dead.

The Good Striker puppet's head reminds me of a croissant.

A gun-type finisher for the LupinKaiser was odd. That seems more suited towards the PatKaiser.

The cliffhanger at the end has an obvious resolution for next week.

I really liked it. The whole episode managed to maintain the interest I had from last week. This is primarily due to the reveal of the backstory of the Lupiranger. And I didn't only enjoy the actual backstory but rather how they showed us and didn't tell us. Some appropriately dramatic scenes which explain why the Lupinranger are so serious about their mission.

The personalities of the three of them are starting to get fleshed out; not only did I enjoy the "fight for the people we lost" vs. the "fight against the evil that terrorises humans" parallel but also how each of the Lupinranger will probably be dealing with the Patranger differently.

I expect similar developing for the Patranger - not just motives that will give differential characterisation to each of the three Patranger, but also something to link them to the story and I mean the Lupin Collection - we know why the Lupinranger are after it, same for the Ganglar, that leaves the Patranger.

The CGI was a bit tiring at times and I don't like the idea of Good Striker but this means nothing at this stage.

Nice way to end the episode. "Coffee please!" is what I expected to hear at the end.

I actually liked the frozen people idea. I found that it served the dramatic scene setting really well to tell their backstory, especially in Umika's case where she places her hand opposite her friend's and immediately her friend is gone. As if a deranged person planned it all like this.

5/5

EDIT:
Naria, continue!
Please no! Not another Insaarn/Naria!

So it seems that we won't really have an ED this year.

On the subs: I just want to say that in 2:51, the Patranger line in the upper right seems wrong. However, I want to thank TV-N for such a wonderful job so far. Timing that must have been a headache.

Hmm, I wonder if it means anything, but Gauche is French for "left" and Destra is Italian for "right". And we see Gauche on Dogranio's left and Destra on his right.

Holy f**king s**t. We'll fix it right away.

And for the font style, that'll be easy.

Pretty good episode. It's a little convenient that the butler guy shows up to each of the Lupins with the VS changer right after the freezing Ganglar does his business.

Love Patran #1. I think he's a nice mix of serious and silly and it works.

What a great episode. Loved the backstory. Wasn't expecting it to be so dark! Super Sentai tends to not "kill" off so many people at once, so that was quite a surprise to me. It reminds me of the older Heisei Kamen Rider shows.

I actually really liked the Chase scene. It did a great job on showing what each of the mechs did and also felt exciting to watch. I like how LupinRanger are air based, whereas PatRanger are land based.
The GoodStriker combi was a bit bizarre though. I'm not quite certain if I'm liking the PatRangers being the comic relief honestly. It seems a bit forced most of the time...

I think the best part was the Gattai battle. It was so flashy, yet sneaky, and very entertaining to watch! Seeing the mecha run around the city, hiding and destroying the missles was quite interesting.
It was one of the best CGI Gattai battles we ever had!

Hopefully we'll get the PatRanger backstory sometime soon. I do like this pacing, rather than a huge plot drop for everyone.

Calling it now. Kogure is the one who did the freezing.

What I thought was interesting about the finisher is that I swear I saw Green and Pink highlights in the gun. Makes me wonder if the finisher weapon for the PatKaiser will have Blue and Yellow highlights.

Goody aka Tickets carrot faced buddy

Finally, a proper heshin sequence for the Patrangers, it's cool that the shoulder armor acts as beam deflectors

I really like that most of the mech scenes are in CG, it creates a lot of dynamic scenes rather than having real props and a guy in a robot suit

LupinKaisers finisher in CG was awesome as well, i usually find gun based "real" finishers seem like cheap fireworks

Gauche's entrance was sweet, that song and water CG was so cool

It's weird that Patran1 is hell bent on catching the Ganglar that burned down the establishments while they partially destroy a bridge and turn it into a ramp, so who's ass is gonna be responsible for that? lol!

Not a fan of the OP, Kyuu was just so much better imo

UGou was cool, kind of, assuming Patran2 & 3's consiousness are the only ones combined like Den-O's Imagins, cause it'll be so funny to have Keiichirou's Pink side actually have some of Patran3's real body parts in there (Pink doesn't want to be touched?), cause he certainly just lost his right side ball there :P

The Patrangers didn't really saw a glimpse of Goody when they entered the shop?, Umika was literally holding it infront of them before she hid it

Kogure conveniently appearing after the LupinRangers loved ones were turned to ice dust?, yup, the dude is fishy as hell, is the show already telling me "The Butler did it" lol!

So the LupinRangers are only going to resurrect their loved ones?, what about those civilians?, are they instantly collateral damage?

EDIT: I don't really get the V & S emblems, how does the V in LupinRangers and S in Patrangers fit?, or did they just use that without any explanation at all just to use "VS"?

This series kills a lot more people than you think, you see them exploding buildings during enemy scenes?, i don't believe for a second those are abandoned, this show most probably has ramped up thousands of off screen civilian deaths lol!

Just because I love crack scenarios and because I want the title to be longer, I think they need a third team: Hard Boiled Sentai Private-Investigategers! A book worm (orange), a wannabe manly man (purple), and an annoying Osaka girl (white) team up to restore those who have be killed in front of them by a whistling Ganglar. The Gategers get to sneak around in the shadows and play the other teams against each other. Instead of wearing police hats or top hats they wear fedoras. They tell the Ganglars that it is time to count up their sins as a prelude to their finisher. As a subplot, Naria II gets injured in battle and turns into a human form to be a femme fatale for purple. During this arc none of the monsters can grow so the teams use this as an excuse to upgrade their megazords. As another subplot, white and police red used to be an item but had a bad break up.

As opposed to a brother, I thought it was more like red's friend was a fellow gang member since gang members call each other aniki all the time.

I'm loving how just about every little thing moves in some way shape or form. It's hard to explain, when I watch Kyuu a majority of the zords felt lifeless to me. Atleast this show has some movement with the robos. Plus the monsters all have something moving with them. Such as the giant sequence. Plus her song as she was coming out. Good.
