Kudo Haruka is playing Lupin Yellow. For the previous six years, Kudo Haruka was a member of the Idol Singing group Morning Musume promoted by the talent agency Hello!Project. Idols (in theory) are not allowed to date boys while they are idols. In Haruka's case, since she had short hair for most of her idol career and was tall and lanky, was pushed into a "ikeman" (pretty boy) role in both blog pictures and in magazine photo shoots. (The magazine Up 2 Boy put Haruka on the cover and advertised that it was the first time they had had a boy on the cover.) Haruka also played male parts in many of the stage musicals that Morning Musume participated in. In the musical "Lillium" the Haruka character cut off the escape and encroached on the person space of another character by performing kabedom for the first time. (The mechanics is that you slam you hand against the wall about a foot from the victims head to get their attention and cut off their escape.) Kabedom, although it sounds stupid, is somewhat of a meme in Japan, so there are many of the other idols singers in Hello!Project (a talent agency that promotes girl idols exclusively) who tried to up their popularity by posing with Haruka in the Kabedom position. Fans of girl idol singers, particularly guys, seem to find this titillating, so in that sense, the future Lupin Yellow was "bringing the sex".
