First the lamp from Magiranger, now this from Go-Onger, and the baddies from ToQger? Are they just recycling stuff from older sentai to help save money?

Lupin vs. Pat - Notice 12 Release
have been looking forward to this episode and aside from the weird humor i have to mention that the movie thugs are using crow masks from Toqger and the collection piece is the go-roader GT from Go-Onger. is it just me or are they running out of original prop ideas or what?

Re: Lupin VS Pat 11 Released!
Oh dear. Well that episode ended up being about as bad as I feared based on the previews.
Cross dressing the men is a Sentai staple, but somehow they've made it dumber than ever. And as a result the episode is an exercise in running down the cock with little in the way of drama or effective humor to show for it. It just didn't work.
I will however give the writers credit for catching the Lupins with a spotlight. It's appropriate for the setting and a good callback to their roll call. Tsukasa and Keiichirou, uh, taking inventory of themselves the first time around also admittedly got a smirk out of me. But that's pretty much the only time the humor worked.
I suppose credit is also due for working in a bit of a Sakuya backstory in there. I say a "bit" because it was ultimately quite brief. And really, it did a disservice to the character to have it take place in such a lame episode. Sakuya needs a proper dramatic episode to build up the character without the forced humor.

Someone else mentioned that this was a filler episode, and I have to agree. They filmed entirely on a movie lot, and then they clearly didn't spend much on props or costuming. Tsukasa's civilian suit in particular looked awful; it clearly didn't fit her properly, like a kid in his father's jacket. The guys also didn't look good, but that's a bit more excusable since 6ft tall women's wear is a little less common...
That would be my assumption. Though ultimately it's a matter of the story needing to fit a rookie ranger in the group somehow. Were there no viable candidates before Sakuya?
Yes please!Loved the LupinRangers fighting with their Batman grapplehooks. More creative ways to fight like this please.
I feel like this is a consequence of the show still struggling to write for competing teams of heroes. The Lupins are thieves, but they aren't bad guys. So they need to be portrayed as sympathetic. Which would be a lot harder if the Pats were straight-laced and highly-effective officers. So instead they get to be the comic relief, both because the Lupins can't and because it brings them down a peg so that they're on the same level as the Lupins.I get that the PatRangers are supposed to be a bit of the comedy relief. But doesn't it seem like they suffer a bit from the body horror stuff a bit too much? First they're all forced to combine into one person (why? Also, have they done that again recently?) and now their genitals are forcibly being added or removed against their wishes. Does the writer just sit around going "Hmmm, what can I do to the PatRangers this week?"
I'd argue more than a bit tone deaf.
i suppose it's a bit of a truth-in-television moment; that would stop me cold in my tracks as well. But it was definitely unnecessary, and I feel like the writers had to be struggling for material at that point. And the forced boob smothering of the mook was just awkward. Is this really what kids want to see?
It would be easier if the MOTW looked like anything. It kind of sort of looks like a peacock, and I absolutely cannot place the rest. It's like a wireframe sculpture come to life. It'd be easier if the MOTW looked more like a peacock...
At this point I don't think it could have hurt.
The mecha fight was kind of odd. Overall I agree with you, they got a number of fantastic action shots in there. But I can't figure out why the director was in such a rush to get through the fight. They cut through all of those beauty shots in a very rapid fashion. The whole fight was over in less than 2 minutes. In a better paced season, a well-filmed fight like that would be given a bit more time to progress and to better show off the product (both in the filming sense and the toy sense).Go-On Macaroni wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 7:35 pm
The mecha fight was also great, with the suits, sparks, and dirt flying when they used Hammer.Spoiler

Re: Lupin VS Pat 11 Released!
I enjoyed this episode. It was a comedy episode so they pulled out the stops and did flinch at going for any joke no matter how bad or tasteless. I laughed.
So, not only do we get kabedon we also get agokei (chin grabbing).
When Kudo Haruka (Umika) was an idol her gimmick was that she was a "ikemen" (pretty boy) character. So, I am not sure if the Lupin's had been hit with the gender swap if there would have been a big difference with her (she could have pulled it off with acting, but her appearance would have stayed the same).

Re: Lupin VS Pat 11 Released!
I believe ever since they got Bike they use it as a Finisher, it's not like Goody is that reliable to use for this purpose anyways, and the Lupin's haven't used him that much either iirc once as a Finisher and the one Time to clone Blue/Yellow.takenoko wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 2:08 am I get that the PatRangers are supposed to be a bit of the comedy relief. To recap:
1.) ---
2.) Ugou
3.) Triple Lupin Red
4.) Ugou
5.) ---
6.) Biker - Ichigo Solo
7.) Cyclone - Lupin Red with Support Fire
8.) --- (Triple Lupin Red used as Proxies for Yellow/Blue)
9.) Biker - Ichigo Solo
10.) Triple Charge Baton's from Pat's
11.) Biker - Ichigo with Support Fire
So we have 11 Sodes, 8 Finishers, with 5(not counting Biker twice since it's essentially the same even with back-up fire) different ones so far, but I must say, as bad as Ugou was as a Design choice at least it was a Team Finisher, Cyclone/Biker with optional Support Fire is kinda meh in it's own Way.

Re: Lupin VS Pat 11 Released!
Would kids get the scissors being female and hammer being male bit lol!
Compared to the last episode, this seemed weak and more like an anime filler
All i'm waiting for now is the introduction of any of the sea based vehicles, assuming there's any or will this series completely ditch it, cause i'm expecting that none of the two existing teams will be using them if they hold true to their respective vehicle themes (Lupin - air based & Patran - land based)

I didn't even think about that. That's pretty groan worthy if that's intentional.

Well, I didn't really think they'd go for the missing dick jokes in a kids show either. But here we are.
