Pretty late on this discussion. I am pretty sure Sakuya is a gender-neutral name too. I guess they want to make his name a little more feminine, but to be honest if the narrator didn't bother with Tsukasa's, why bother changing his name from Sakuya to Sakimi.

Is Sakuya a gender neutral name? The only other instance I can think of is Tachibana Sakuya from Blade.

Researching a little, seems like general consensus is it's usually a boy name, however it could be okay for a girl. Not common though. The -ya ending is mostly on boy names.
