Alt Title: Fire and Lightning, they get along like harmony~

That Gyaku Soul ability seems pretty handy. Seems like they should use it in every episode.

I hate that this Sentai becomes the red and gold show when the mecha appear. It's already red and gold heavy enough in the main story... Also, it feels extremely lazy to not have a Neptune transformation version that's on land instead of recycling the footage from its underwater transformation

Can shinto priestesses get married?

Where the fuck is Gaisorg? Wiseru is cool, probably my favorite commander so far. But isn't it about time we saw the Druidron command structure?

Looks like Mr. Black's practicality backfired this time.

Alright episode. Any story that doesn't leave me feeling irritated or bored at the end of it is a win with this series.

It's a fkking rock, it doesn't get tired and want a rest from all these people wishing on it.

BECAUSE IT'S A ROCK

>Can shinto priestesses get married?
Career ones usually do. The current Supreme Priestess of Ise Grand Shrine is the younger sister of the current emperor and married. There's definitely a stereotype of most priestess being the part-time job high school girls who do it on festival days and New Year's so I can see why you might think that though.

Are you accusing me of knowing everything about priestesses from Rei from Sailor Moon! How dare you!

Supreme Priestess is quite the title.

But in all seriousness, I thought priestesses were like nuns. If you're religious you stop having sex, right? I don't really know how religion works.

Even Rei had that minor boy love interest in the anime. The really hairy one whose name I forget cause he wasn't important and let's face it, Rei is a lesbian.

It's mostly Catholicism that forbids sex/marriage among the clergy (with the exception of deacons) cause I know rabbis and imams are allowed to get married.

it's usual Ryusoulger stuff. Stupid stuff.
The only good thing of the episode was that Bamba casually split the rock after seemingly agreeing not to.

I'm beginning to suspect there will be no actual plot until episode 30+

Like Lunagel says, it's mostly catholicism that forbids sex/marriage for priests. They also forbid women from being priestess, very progressist people indeed.
Now that I think about it, I never heard of a female rabbi or imam either...but it's off the point.
Buddhism is against the craving for pleasure, which should include sex, bud there also is sexual yoga, si I guess it depends from school to school...

Usually, it is not forbidden to have sex for religious people, it's just that you have to do it inside the moral boundaries of your religion (for reproduction, only with the person you're married to, things like that).

Female rabbis do exist in the more reformed sects, and apparently female imams as well though I have to admit ignorance on anything but the bare basics of Islam.

The female Buddhist monks tend to be older, I can't say that I've ever seen a young one. Sometimes the Buddhist priests can get married, but again, depends on sect.

At least Bamba realises that he fucked up and was smart enough to go stop Wiseru.

It's a shame that this mecha is the Red/Gold show only. The nature of how the smaller robots break apart and connect should make it easier to have all 6 of them join. I imagine this is it for combinations for a while.

I pretty sure Ryusoulger toyline really increases the profit for Bandai tremendously compared to Lupin VS Pat because of how flexible those toys are to make any sort of combination. But yes, I agree they could do more. Sure enough, stacking all the parts from all Kishiryuu would look like a humongous and invincible robot but definitely would be reliant on CGI for both movements and finisher for it to appear on show. Either they are short on budget that they planned the toyline like this despite having unlimited potential and just want a clean profit without doing unnecessary work to increase the rating and be better than any Sentai Show before. I was actually hoping Ryusoulger would have an ultimate looking robot that combines everything like Engine O G12, Kyoryu Samurai Ha-Oh, and TOQ Rainbow. Would have count Wild Tousai Dodeka King too if the Octopus Cube really play some part as well, even if it being a weapon. Design wise, I think Go-Onger and Shinkenger wins it. TOQger had to shrunk everything while Jyuohger seems to be run out of idea to be stacking cubes on top of each other.

It seems odd saying this, but this feels like the most Eastern philosophy and/or religion-based episode I've seen by far, going far beyond the concept of objects having feelings and deserving respect (which has already been expressed once or twice earlier in the show) and straight into Buddhist allegory (I believe desire is considered evil in Buddhism, though I'm not Buddhist so I can't verify from experience). With that said, one does wonder to what degree Bamba likes being viewed as the hardened guy. It seems to me like he had saving the rock as an actual interest later in the episode, but if so, claiming he was just being practical seems really insensitive with the priestess right there.

I'm also surprised Sakamoto didn't have a part in this; it has few to none of his typical non-fighting tropes, but the fighting both in-suits and out-of-suits felt fantastic. Maybe it was just that it had more out of suit fighting than usual Sentai?

Viewing items as having their own "souls" is a very Shinto philosophy, and one that is pretty pervasive throughout Japan. If you have something you used very often and feel attached to, but the item is old or worn and needs to be thrown away, a lot of people will ask the local shrine to burn said item ritually, essentially releasing the"soul". It's a way to show respect for something that has helped you. I know chopsticks are very often handed over to shrines, and recently old business cards too.

People are reusing business cards? Imagine how oily they are after so many uses.

Bamba did the right thing by trying to destroy it. Marie Kondo would approve of getting rid of something that no longer sparks joy.

Kozue protecting the rock would've made more sense if an evil spirit was sealed inside it. A lot of Japanese stories have evil spirits trapped in rocks. You could argue that it is evil because folklore around the world warns against falling prey to spirits/objects that grant wishes.
