Alt Title: It's not easy being green

Weird way to introduce Gaisorg.

Was that flashback from a previous episode or new to this one?

Hello random train.

Towa looks kinda pissed at the end.

All in all, I really liked this episode. Everyone got taken out pretty quickly, but Towa's a pretty good character so he was able to hold the episode all on his own. Even the joke at the end felt genuinely funny.

Guess I'm glad that Gaisorg is introduced, but it's super weird that he only appeared before Towa like that. Seems like the Saikyou Battle is non canon?

Preview seems to hint we'll finally learn what the deal is with that mysterious guy.

Gaisorg was in previous episodes. This is the first time he's interacted with a team member though. He's definitely Black and Greens master, although if Green doesn't know this he has an odd reason for feeling betrayed.

Right, by introduce, I mean the first time he and a protagonist encounter each other. It's just odd because it leads to the strange scenario of Towa A) Being the sole source of info on Gaisorg's appearance or B) him not telling the others for convoluted plot reasons.

It's also strange because both the intro scene and the battle with Gaisorg are trying to make a point that Towa relies on his speed too much, but all the episode he's able to escape the traps and paint the keys because he uses his speed.

Right, you'd think he'd get smacked down or punished for his overreliance on speed, but that never really happens. I mean, maybe Melto just doesn't know what he's talking about too. Being fast is pretty great.

I think the lesson was probably that Towa was relying soley on his speed, when there are times when he had to think ahead for a solution too, like painting those keys. I guess if you're gonna be fast, you gotta think fast too.

Another solid episode. I struggle to comment on these episodes sometimes because while I do enjoy the show, there's not usually much to say. The action, effects and fight scenes are always excellent, though it's probably not worth me repeating that every episode.

I am interested to see more of Gaisorg, who is just acting more like Wolzard with each appearance. He might not have opened up to reveal our sixth ranger underneath, but there's still a chance for Towa or Banba to cry on him, causing him to turn good and for his armour to turn red!

Melto is the strategist of the team so he is more about fighting smart. That is why at the beginning he criticized the other three for fighting based on their instinct alone but not with a proper fighting plan, and he did show how he can corner Towa even though he was slower. The episode does show how Towa struggled to think of a proper plan to counter the enemy ability. So it is not that his speed is useless, but sometimes to win a fight you need more than power alone. So Melto's criticism does make sense.

That was a pretty solid episode, even if there were a couple of issues keeping it from greatness. I think these issues tend more towards the directing side rather than the scripting one, since it seemed to take the break-the-character-to-find-their-core approach with the challenge to Towa not shedding much more light on who he is (unlike Melto and Asuna's episodes at least feeling like they did). With that said, the gimmick and solution both felt pretty clever, and the ending actually has me anticipating the next episode (which may be the first time this show's done that for me).

On a side note, Gaisorg looks like he could be a better villain than anyone else we've been getting; I'm hoping they take some time with his redemption if they go that route.

I wasn't able to get very excited for this episode. It's good to see Towa grow as a person, but this episode did it in a weird way. Having Gaisorg appear as he did - and then quickly leaving again - kind of derailed the episode.

And hey, does anyone remember when Ui did anything that wasn't just comic relief?

Side note: is it me or is the 720p encode slightly out of sync? I had to delay the audio 120ms to get it back to where it felt right.

Bingo. The problem wasn't that he used his speed, it's that he never thought past it. So learning to stop and think - and boy, did he ever look uncomfortable with the stopping - is an important lesson for him.

I guess there was the episode where UI wanted to kill herself?

I remember there being audio issues with this one. Not sure if they resolved it by distro

She had a couple of good moments very early in the series. But she's basically been downgraded to comedy for the last 3 months now. She's obviously not a ranger, but I wish they'd give the character something a bit more serious now and then.

I know, right? or perhaps Gaizorg's current host just happens to be Bamba and Towa's master.
