Issues with Super Hero Taisen

Post by DokiDoki Yukai »

Okay, this is a new one...normally, since you guys recently moved to the Bluray format for the theatrical releases, I used to just be able to use the SD releases of those and they streamed through my laptop's network bridge to my 360 just fine...however, with your release of Super Hero Taisen (which I have been DYING to see), not even the SD version is recognized by the 360 (I get an incompatible content error) and just to be sure I downloaded it twice...is there any way around this? Sure, yeah I could watch it on my laptop, but I normally watch all TV-N releases on my HD tv w/surround sound so it just wouldn't be the same. Thanks for any help you might have with this issue.

IDK what's going on with your bridge, but you can probably use a media server like TVersity or PS3 Media Server that will stream mp4s just fine to your 360 or PS3

have you tried copying it to a pen drive and plugging that into the 360 and trying that way (I assume you can do that)
have you done a crc check with rapidcrc to ensure you do have a complete file?
does the file play back on your laptop?

PS3 Media Server consistently fails to show up on my 360's stream media list so I can't use that, it plays okay on my laptop, about to try the flash drive option, will let you know how it turned out.

I'm able to stream the video to my ps3 (with tversity), but it's not getting any sound. Maybe the problem is the 5.1 audio track?

Usually I create a stereo track and set it as the default audio track for compatibility reasons.

Edit: I still have the files. Let me create a stereo track and see if that helps.

There's the stereo audio track: http://www.sendspace.com/file/cg1opi

If you don't care about the 5.1 audio track, just use megui to mux the video and audio together: http://sourceforge.net/projects/megui/
-Tools>Muxer>Mp4 Muxer
-Select the released video for the video input
-Select the stereo track that I uploaded to sendspace for the audio (If you had a 5.1 track, you'd add it as audio 2)
-Pick an output and hit queue
-Go to the Queue tab and hit start and it should spit out a file that is hopefully compatible with your system. It seems to work fine on tversity to my ps3

If you do care about the 5.1 track:
Just use tsMuxerGUI to demux it. Add our distro release at the top. Then at the bottom, click the Demux radio button. Hit Start Demuxing and itl'l give you the video and audio file
Video: [T-N]Super_Hero_Taisen_SD[DB9889E8]Blu.track_1.264
5.1 Audio: [T-N]Super_Hero_Taisen_SD[DB9889E8]Blu.track_2.aac
Now just do the steps above to put it back together again (with the stereo track first).
From the PS3, I have to switch the audio from track 1 to track 2 manually, but it works this way (for some reason).

It's almost certainly the audio track. For some stupid reason the Xbox 360 only supports 2 channel AAC audio. Meanwhile PS3 supports 5.1 channel, which is why it works on your PS3.

I'm not an audiophile by any means, I just want the file to be able to work off of my 360..unfortunately though, while slightly tech savvy, I have no idea how to mux together anything without being able to mess it completely up (I've tried before with some AKB0048 files and it was the worst week ever) I guess my only other option is to use a program like videoara 360 converter but with my netbook's processing speed, it would take days to convert. :|

It was just easier to write down the steps for muxing since it was around 3 am last night when I saw this. Just so you know, you're not reencoding anything, just repacking the streams.

If you give me some time I can upload a version 2.

Edit: Now that I've reencoded it, I'm having issues getting the surround sound track to play correctly. It doesn't play at all on my ps3 and on my computer it causes the video to slow down. Weird.

The problem is due to the 5.1 AAC as takenoko stated.
Well, its actualy due to the dumb fool way the 360 handles playback of h264.

In an mp4 container it only supports upto 2 channel AAC.
However an avi container will support upto 5.1 but only in AC3 I belive.

Anyways I came up with a quick one line fix to convert the audio to stereo and remux.
Unzip, place the file "[T-N]Super_Hero_Taisen_HD_1080[ABB11E6D]Blu.mp4" in the same folder and run the batch, easy :)

Pretty slick. If someone has one of the other versions, I assume it'll work if you just open the bat in notepad and changed the file name?

Correct
Would work for anything tbh, just substitute the file name.

Just out of curiosity, but playing either audio format on a computer would make no difference right?
The audio stream only affects the consoles (PS3/360) that are trying to play the video.
I noticed the zip file consist of a codec program and just a simple batch. If you don't mind, could you run through via PM how you came up with the solution? I am quite curious to know.

That said, I never knew there was so much things to note when playing on a device other than the computer~

P.S. SHT works great on my desktop =) Thanks TV-Nihon~
