How to cut videos?

Forum rules
First, check to make sure your file is complete by running it through RapidCRC or checking it with a torrent. If it's incomplete, the torrent will fill in the broken parts.

Don't use Quicktime, Realmedia, or WMP to play our files. Basically, they suck, and you're going to have a bad time.

Use VLC, Gom Player, or Media Player Classic with some codec packs installed.

How to cut videos?

I know I asked this b4 but I forgot and can't seem to find the topic again, so I'm asking this questions again, sry if this annoys you. I need a program that allows me to cut videos, thats all i wanna do, and save it in avi. format. does anyone know what program I should or could use?

So what type of video you want to cut from because the type will change on how you cut videos.

I tried that, but it doesnt seem to be able to work, i dunno y tho....

it says "Couldnt locate decompressor for format 'XVID' (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

as long as you have the codecs installed it will be able to open up the video file fine

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ <- download and install the windows version, once installed vdub should be able to pick it up fine
