a meaty questionz!
So I was watching the entire series of Kabuto for who knows how many times, and I keep pondering the scene in ep. 22. Tsurugi is celebrating his birthday and talks about the shredded meat he's eating:
lolwut?
I don't really get what he means whether hes really eating steak meat or something...and why Tendou nearly does a n-n-n-neck breaker (lolwut?fail). Any info about this scene is hawt, spank you!

Re: a meaty questionz!
Lol. Look! It's a cow!
Technically what he is eating (so it seems to me) is ground beef, like hamburger meat. Most frequently it is made from parts of the cow known as "chuck steak" and "round steak." As you can see this comes from the shoulders/front area of the cow and the back end. Since the cow uses these muscles more, they tend to be more tough, so they usually grind them up and use them as ground beef instead of using them for steak.
Most expensive steaks like I assume Tsurugi would eat would come from tenderloin, the sirloins, or the rib. While it's true you could grind it up and use it as shredded beef... that is really never done. I assume this is because it is more pricey and the taste wouldn't differ, they just grind up the tougher, cheaper meat because it wouldn't be as good as a whole steak.
The culinary strangeness of Tsurugi's suggestion might be what made Tendou have such a reaction.
Although considering ground beef comes from the same animal as steak meat, it's possible I'm just overthinking it and Tendou is just shocked because ... in the end, it would taste the same.
But hey, learning is fun, right?
I really showed I come from steak country... stupid Texas....

Yeah, that's pretty much it. The whole point of shredding up meat is because it's cheap stuff or odds and ends that wouldn't make for a good steak. Plus, isn't tenderloin so soft that it'd just turn into meat paste?

Using loin or tender loin you could use a smaller bit and there for have larger chunks to keep moisture in. Resulting in a juicier meat that hold more flavour and has better body. But most chefs won't know this. I do because I wanted to become chef for a while and took a lot of the science(being a science freak) that I know and used it to figure things out.
So he really was kind of smart just the other didn't realise it.

Hey, that's really interesting. I just know mostly what I've learned watching the Food Network and learned over time living in a family of people who love steak way too much. We'd probably have steak and potatoes every meal if my dad had his way....lostinbrave wrote:Using loin or tender loin you could use a smaller bit and there for have larger chunks to keep moisture in. Well, I did take a few Food Science classes when I was in high school because I thought I could get out of Chemistry and stuff. It didn't work in the end, but they were really fun classes anyway. XD
Whoa. I'm stunned. o__o;; I don't know what to say... very flattering you would get an idea for something like that just from me rambling... and here I was starting to worry everyone was going to start thinking I'm some kind of irritating know-it-all going around posting this stuff.... But it's the Kamen Rider Kabuto forum! Isn't it the same thing? XDoddjob wrote:This is not "Cooking 101 Forum"
I wasn't even planning to use that diagram, but I found it at random when I went to double-check my information before posting it. When I saw it I couldn't help sticking it in the post, it was too perfect. XDCreamCheese wrote:omgeeeee, love the insightful information. any show with more than 30% cooking and a cooking competition (for 2 episodes!) is ALWAYS a cooking class lol.

Darn right. I learned proper tuuuhuu care! And that in Japan, if your name is Tendou Souji, you can buy tofu en masse!
Not that I particularly wanted to learn that, considering how I feel about tofu. But uh... if anyone ever asks me on a forum, I can post a picture and give a long explanation!

Re: a meaty questionz!
On the topic of food, specifically tofu, my mother once decided that she and I would go vegetarian. (I was 12.) To start, she made us tofu soup. Chicken broth, some veggies, and tofu. Cubes of tofu.
Cubic inches of tofu. That she just... threw in. No marination. Nothing.
Soup. And massive pieces of bland, flavourless tofu.
Suffice to say, she never made that dish ever again.

I have only one thing to say to this. And that thing is.... EWWWW!!!dancercotillion wrote:On the topic of food, specifically tofu, my mother once decided that she and I would go vegetarian. (I was 12.) To start, she made us tofu soup. Chicken broth, some veggies, and tofu. Cubes of tofu.

The only thing I'd say about the banner is that it's kinda hard to tell what it is unless you know about the cow thing. It might be better if you could see the shape of the cow. I can understand it'd be difficult to fit that on a banner of that size though. I might mess around in Photoshop later if I get some time.
