Ok, so this is the downloading guide for IRC, there are two guides on this page, the first is if you are using regular mIRC, this uses command line syntax which requires you to type loads of lines, the second is if you are using mIRC with Sysreset, its easier to use as its just point and click, less chance of making a mistake.
IMPORTANT NOTES
petrkr-server runs on port range 1024-1028, if you aim to download from him you NEED to forward that range as well otherwise you will get connection errors
You HAVE to port forward if using a router, mIRC doesn't UPnP support yet
Downloading Via Command line syntax
By now we hope you have followed the setup guide and are now ready to start downloading from IRC,
The first stage in order to download and to see what Fserves are available you need to perform an !list
To do this you need to enter the command into the text input area and hit return, this will list the Fserves that are online and ready for you to browse, the list will be similar to that shown in Fig 1. below
Fig 1. !list output
From this list you can pick an Fserve to browse and get files from, to enter an Fserve you need to enter one of the commands displayed, in this example we will use "petrkr-server" to enter his Fserve you need to type the command "/ctcp petrkr-server tv-nihon stuff" but without the "" and hit return, this will start the DCC chat session, if successful you will be presented with a screen similar to that shown in Fig 2.
Fig 2. Initial DCC Chat Session Window
This window also gives you the basic commands to use and Fserve, but we shall only go through the basic set that you need to get yourself up and running on IRC, you can explore these other commands later or look them up on the web to see what they do.
To be able to see what is available in the Fserve you need to enter the "dir" command as you would normally, this will display a list of what is in this level of the Fserve, the result of the dir command is shown in Fig 3 below.
Fig 3. DCC Chat Session with dir command
To be able to change directory within the Fserve you need to issue the cd command, entering this command by itself wont do anything as you can see in Fig 4, you need to give it a target as well, in this case we will be changing to the KamenRider - 555 directory, to do this you need to enter the command "cd KamenRider - 555", this will change the level of which you are in the Fserve, the new level will be shown to you as shown in Fig 4.
Fig 4. DCC Chat Session with cd command
To return to the previous level within the Fserve you need to issue the following command "cd .." we haven't demonstrated that here as it is very straight forward in what it does.
You can now use the dir command to list the contents of this level of the Fserve as show below in Fig 5.
Fig 5. DCC Chat Session dir command on 2nd level
From the output above we can see what files are available to us, in this instance we be grabbing the Faiz Hyper Battle Video, to do this you need to issue the get command, again you can't just enter this on its own you need to provide the target as well, so the command for this instance is "get [T-N]Kamen_Rider_555_Hyper_Battle_Video[3856DC8B].avi" this is shown in Fig 6 below
Fig 6. DCC Chat Session with get command
Once you have entered the get command, this will queue the file with the sender ready to send to you when its you turn in the queue, you will be told which place your file is in the queue similar to that shown in Fig 7 below.
Fig 7. DCC Chat Session with queue message
You can now either browse more of the Fserve or you can close the DCC session, to close it you need to type "Exit", don't close the session using the X button as this can cause the Fserve to crash.
When your download slot comes round you will see a window pop up similar to that shown in Fig 8. below,
Fig 8. DCC Get window
Now provided you have done all the settings correctly, forward the ports and unblocked if need be, mIRC will auto accept the file and start the download into the designated folder, all progress stats will be shown in this window, when the transfer is complete the window will close, and you will be able to go and play/view the file you have just downloaded.
If for some reason you need to cancel the transfer you will need to click cancel on the window of the transfer, but you will also need to issue the following command in the main chat window /ctcp <fserve host name> NORESEND this will stop the Fserve attempting to send the file again.
Abusing Fserves is frowned upon and will in most cases result in an Fserve ban, this means the host will deny you access to his/her Fserve for as long as they want to, bugging them to get you're self unbanned or to speed up the sends is not a wise idea
Fserves are hosted by the kind people of TV-Nihon, please do not demand files or special treatment from them.
Now that you have mastered downloading from Fserves you might want to consider giving something back by running an Fserve, see the guide on how to do this
Downloading Via Sysreset tools
By now we hope you have followed the setup guide and are now ready to start downloading from IRC,
This is the second method that you can use to download files from Fserve's, this is a slightly easier method to master as it is just a point and click method
To use this method you will need Sysreset installed and running, once you have Sysreset running you will need to open the "Addon Manager" feature.
To open the Addon Manager you need to click on "Sysreset" and then on "Addon Manager" from the drop down menu.
It will look similar that that shown in Fig 1 below
Fig 1 Addon Manager Window
Within this window you will need to find and load fserve_browser.ini and fserve_tracker.ini
To load them you need to click on the item and hit the "Load" button, once you have loaded both of them you can click on "Done"
The second stage in order to download and to see what Fserves are available you need to perform an !list
To do this you need to enter the command into the text input area and hit return, this will list the Fserves that are online and ready for you to browse, the list will be similar to that shown in Fig 2. below
Fig 2. !list output
Now that you performed an !list, you can access a list of what servers have been picked up in an easy to read way, to view the Fserve list via the Server Tracker feature you need to click on "Sysreset" and then "Server Tracker" from the drop down menu, the window that it brings up should be similar to that show in Fig 3. below
Fig 3. Server Tracker window
You can now click on the Fserve's hosts name, this will then show a list of triggers that you can activate to be able to browse that persons Fserve, in this example we have selected "petrkr-server" as you can see from the output shown in Fig 4 below that this person has one trigger that we can activate
Fig 4. Server Tracker with Trigger shown
If you double click the trigger this will start a DCC session but it will minimise it, at the same time it will display a new window to you, the "Remote Window" it will look similar to that shown in Fig 5 below
Fig 5. Remote Window Top Level
From this window you can browse the Fserve as you would you normal file system, simply double click on the folder you want to access, in this instance we will entering the NetaJin folder, once you have double clicked the folder name, the Remote Window will display the contents of the folder to you, it will look similar to that shown in Fig 6 below, To go back up a level at any point just double click on the ".." bit, this will change the level you are on and display the contents of this level
Fig 6. Remote Window NetaJin level
To queue the file up ready to be sent to you, you just need to double click on the file, this will queue the file up on the Fserve for you, it will also display the position in the queue that the file has entered, the result of this will look something similar to that shown in Fig 7 below
Fig 7. Remote Window with Queued file message
You can now either browse more of the Fserve or you can close the DCC session, with this method you just need to click Close, this will close the DCC session properly

Now that you have mastered downloading from Fserves you might want to consider giving something back by running an Fserve, see the guide on how to do this
Thank you for reading this guide
Remember you need to have port 59 forwarded for most fservs otherwise you may get a failed send
Do you get this error "harpy.mi.us.synirc.net- User <nick here> is currently not accepting DCC SENDs" then check here for how to solve the problem

Guide to downloading from mIRC
Live for the Moment, for the Moment is Eternal!
Re: Guide to downloading from mIRC
Actually that ports is random... depends on sets of IRC client...petrkr-server runs on port range 1024-1028, if you aim to download from him you NEED to forward that range as well otherwise you will get connection errors
in mIRC go onto Options -- Connection -- Options -- Advaced (Button) and there is First and Last DCC port,, and that is that ports which you should forwared on router... for ex first 1400 last 1410 and then on router forward ports 1400 - 1410 onto your computer,,,
default in mIRC is 1024 - 4096 so if you downloading much thing at once, so you can get port for ex 2000....
so my recommend is forward few ports (min 3) and that ports set on mIRC....
also you need allow firewall for accepting incomming connections on that ports...
