Also, it's weird that the DHT thing would change. I make the Jinga and Zi-O torrents and I haven't done anything different. While the LVSP are done by other staff members.

Edit: Actually I only do the SD and 1080 stuff. I never touch the 720 stuff. Sometimes I do do the LVSP stuff if luna asks for help.

Hariken wrote: Fri Dec 28, 2018 6:09 am I did just write a paragraph with more information but as I clicked Submit was told the forum was upgrading and lost what I'd written - uh oh. I think it was saying I'd tried restarting the Deluge daemon and that I have always had DHT disabled anyway.

Re: Zi-O 15 720p, even if that was the problem I doubt the other 4 would be the same. :/ Although the weird thing is that specific torrent has now decided to complete 100% - even though the tracker is still saying Error. The other 3 remain the same. The plot thickens...
Well there's no guarantee this will help, but perhaps some traceroutes and a screenshot of the error message will help track down the issue?

Centurylink has been having a major outage in the past two weeks which has affected both 911 services (voice) as well as Internet connectivity for some people.

Right. But the person having a problem is in France... ;)

Happy to provide traceroutes but would you be able to walk me through it? The server that runs the torrent daemon is running ArchLinux and I SSH into it. I have a server admin who usually manages any issues with it and in return I let him use a portion of the server for VMs, but he hasn't really been keeping up with his side of the bargain lately. I've been asking him to upgrade the Deluge daemon from 1.3.12 to 1.3.15 for ages... thinking I might have to work out how to do it myself at this rate.

Just type this into the console:

Code: Select all

traceroute www.tvnihon.com

My sysadmin didn't have traceroute installed. Was going to use tracepath as that is there, but I think that only works with IP addresses. Using 212.32.236.201 as the IP for www.tvnihon.com I got this:

Code: Select all

iaresam@akita ~ % tracepath 212.32.236.201

If that doesn't give any useful information then I'll look into getting traceroute installed.

Nope, that's sufficient. Your seed box is very close to TVN's server, and it's not blocked.

At this point I'm not seeing any reason to think it's a generic networking issue. Rather it's something about your torrent client, or at least its interactions with TVN's tracker software.

Does anyone else around here use Deluge?

I'm going to have to annoy my admin for about the 8th time this year to update Deluge I guess. If he can't be bothered I'll have to attempt it myself and risk messing everything up, seeing as he's got my server set up so that it works more for him than me. :X

EDIT: Got in touch with him. He says he'll try and do it sometime this week... we'll see... also he said it's going to be difficult to update as it might break a lot of other stuff. I can see him 'forgetting' or not being bothered about it unfortunately. Hopefully it won't be too long so we can see if it fixes the issue or not.

Yeah, let us know how it goes. I'm rather stumped by what else we can do personally.

My admin has finally got round to updating Deluge for me - and one of the bugfixes means I can now see a tracker error message in full (!). Now, randomly, a few torrents from the T-N tracker have managed to complete since my last post, but I still have 7 others sitting in my client at 0% waiting to connect. I can't understand why some manage to eventually connect and others don't.

Anyway, this is the error message I get from the tracker:
tvnihon.com: Error: Host not found (non-authoritative), try again later
I've had a quick Google for answers to what this message means but can only find vague "authoritative" and not "non-authoritative" discussion. The only sites with my exact query are dodgy ones that are trying to trick people into downloading a registry tool, or a Reddit thread that died before anyone answered it.

If anyone is familiar with that error and knows how I can fix it, I'm all ears!

Hmm, sounds like either it can't find our tracker, or it can but it's not authoritative enough?
