Any encoders out there?

Anyone use Avisynth who can recommend a good noise reduction filter (And recommended settings)? I really think these Deka Blu-rays will need them.

crf rather than starving the bitrate and softsub instead hardsub so the encoding doesn't turn to mush

Soft subbing is out, people steal our scripts and sell them on Chinese bootlegs

So it's been years since I've done any encoding. Like AVI was still the preferred format. Whenever I encoded, I always used this plugin.

With the setting FieldDienterlace() I know that's the defaul setting. I wasn't exactly a genius with encoding.

But I just remembered that was to Deinterlace and not Denoise lol.

Have you tried FFT3DFilter? I dont have any of my scripts anymore so I don't know the settings I used.

Some of the basic ones for dealing with noise in general are:

Undot() # Minimal Noise
mergechroma(blur(1.3)) # Little Noise
FluxSmoothST(7,7) # Medium Noise
Convolution3D("movielq") # Heavy Noise

There is extensive notes out there that deal with these filters to generally give more detail as to what they are doing and what values to assign to them to give the best results.

doom9 forums are also a good place to pick up encoding tips and tricks.
