KR Zero-One announcement trailer

Post by takenoko »

Hmmm, it's a real shame Drive already did an AI themed Rider story and OOO already had a CEO.

Edit: Marvel would like its logo back.

Hmm, interesting designs. 01 is very simple and very neon green. It's not a bad thing, but it's definitely a departure from the past several years with more complex riders.

The secondary riders, on the other hand, almost don't look like riders. They look like they'd be more at home in a metal heroes series.

Looks like Detroit Become Human and Iron Man with a goofy young Tony Stark

Zero-One, probably a nod to Ichigo for the new era?

Not really digging the base form, he doesn't look main rider-y to me, just comparing it to Build's base form, 01's design looks rather uninspired

Big plus here for me is the introduction of the female rider, a male dominated series like this usually puts them halfway and not from the get go, nice!

This rider base form really reminds me of a neon version of Fate Zero's Assassin. And the cop sidekicks...they look more like Sentai to me hahah. But as long as the story is good, I'm all for it.

Just showa us some good storytelling.

I admit that I do not like Zero-One's design... It just... feels like a massive highlighter pen is just standing on set.

But I really do like the other two Kamen Riders that were shown. And the story itself sounds really really good.

Looks like a cat motif for this Rider.

Zero-One's suit design has definitely grown on me, though admittedly I thought it was pretty ugly when I saw the first leak (then again, if I can get used to Ex-Aid's design it makes sense that I can get used to this). Interesting choice that none of the suits seem to have a mouth, though. It certainly looks like they're trying to introduce more Showa elements here, between the rider's name and his base form being grasshopper-inspired; I'm hoping they manage to merge the best elements of the last three eras, though the belt still talks like a Neo-Heisei one, so perhaps they're going for Heisei's style and Showa's substance?

The story reminds me a lot of Ex-Aid's premise, with living AI trying to destroy humanity as the riders (several of whom are introduced from the start) try and manage in a professional environment. The inclusion of a strike team also feels somewhat Ultraman-y? I'm liking the idea of a terrorist group as the bad guys, in any case, but I'm hoping that doesn't stop the show from getting some interesting villains.
Watching:
Kamen Rider Kuuga, Gotchard

Watched:
KR W, Gaim, Ghost - Build, Geats
Ultraman '66, Leo, Great, Nexus - U7X, Ginga - Blazar
Donbrothers
GS Sho, Dogengers S1-4
When in doubt,

My knee jerk reaction is I don't like the designs so far. There's a cheapness about them that I can't quite put my finger on. I think my literal comment when I first saw them was "Are these new Chinese toku heroes?"

Sadly, speaking of Ex-Aid, it's the same writer. Hope he got better at telling a year long story in the intervening years.

Honestly Armor Hero had pretty cool suit designs...

Ex-aid writer? Shit. He really fucked up the Amazonz movie.

The main suit looking so slender really threw me off. I guess not having to hide Takaiwas beer gut anymore would do that.

Based on other sources, Zero One is supposed to be a nod or throw back to the first shows of both Showa and Heisei eras. Kamen Rider Ichigo and Kamen Rider Kuuga.

I haven't watched either show so I can't watch this trailer to see how accurate that is.
Sadly, speaking of Ex-Aid, it's the same writer. Hope he got better at telling a year long story in the intervening years.

Am I the only one that thought Ex-Aid's story was good?

It's funny because it's true

Who is the new main Rider suit actor now?

I liked Ex-Aid. It did drop the ball in the end (the movie kind of screwed things up), but I enjoyed the ride.

Takaiwa has given up the throne? The age of Heisei really is over.
